We've switched to a "review this fake pull request in depth" style of take home test even before the "ai" nonsense and it's held up rather well. Filters for engineers who can read acceptance criteria, compare with existing code, find issues and suggest improvements.

My experience fleeing a failing country is not really transferable because step one starts with kicking off the process 10 years before the actual fall / move with a "better to have it and not need it" mentality.
