If Josh Shapiro called all the games I would watch the Phillies more; that was great.

This has nothing to do with the specific content here, but Polymarket adopting the language of news, here with BREAKING, and with Texas election results earlier this week, is BAD. Polymarket is not and will never be a news org or break news. It's a betting app. It's Draft Kings for sociopaths.

EXCLUSIVE: At more than 30 installations, U.S. commanders told troops the war on Iran is a Christian war.

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation has been β€œinundated” with more than 110 complaints.

One NCO said they were told the U.S. war is to bring about Armageddon and the return of Jesus…

also lol I saw someone go "baseball players will miss several weeks for a blister by lindsey vonn is skiing on a busted ACL" and I'm like, that's because she (like many olympians and female athletes generally) does not have labor protections, stop valorizing injury, start agitating for rest

An unstated part of this article: There is an enormously long history of calling Jewish athletes in particular soft. They did it to Koufax, they did it to Hank Greenberg. 1/

your toxic internet posting to your tiny circle of likeminded people (because your antisocial behavior has driven everyone else off) isn’t activism and your assumption that others aren’t engaging in actual activism because they aren’t doing toxic internet posting to your liking is bullshit

We can have a lot of feelings about this but what we're NOT gonna do is imply that Jason Brown shouldn't have been at the last Olympics, thank you.

Breakout Year
by KD Casey
This has been a wild year for baseball fans β€” Mariners, you were so close! β€” but thankfully we have a terrific baseball book to carry us through until spring training. Casey’s BREAKOUT YEAR (Self-published, ebook, $4.99) is a high-concept contemporary about a newly traded third baseman, Eitan Rivkin, who spontaneously comes out during a press conference. Hiring a fake boyfriend to take on very visible dates seems like the best way to get the media talking about his love life instead of why his last team traded him so abruptly.

His audition call connects him with Akiva, the first Orthodox Jewish ballplayer and a former minor league teammate who now cobbles together a living out of ghostwriting, editing, modeling and anything else he can turn his hand to. He needs the money, and Eitan’s thrilled to be spending time with someone he already knows and likes, so the contract is signed.

And immediately becomes a problem. Both Eitan and Akiva are used to being alone, and playing their cards close to the vest. This is not a book where triumphant resolutions tie up every loose thread in a neat little bow, because baseball doesn’t allow for that kind of ending. Sometimes the only thing you can do is your best, and hope you get a second chance.

The President Who Cried β€˜Hoax’ Republicans went after Epstein only when it was politically useful.

The β€œEpstein Files” saga shows that Republicans were only ever interested in using sexual assault as a pretext to smear political rivals and deprive LGBT people of their constitutional rights www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

I just glanced up at the LIDOM game on my TV, saw a barely buttoned jersey in the batter's box, and said "What does this guy think he is, a Phillie?" It was Johan Rojas.

The most vigorous expression of a resolution does not always coincide with the greatest vigour of the resolution itself. It is often flung out as a sort of prop to support a decaying conviction which, while strong, required no enunciation to prove it so. – Thomas Hardy
