Could not be happier for former honors student Anna Sofia Guerra!!!! Anna Sofia just accepted an offer to be a Project Coordinator in Keely Muscatell's lab at UNC!!!
This paper holds a special place in my heart. I was working on an earlier draft (almost 3 years ago!) when my wife went into labor with my son. We still call him Bouba, although lately he has been more of a Kiki ;)
Excited to share that Iβll be joining the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at @colorado.edu as an Assistant Professor this fall! My lab will study social cognition, focusing on the cognitive and neural bases of stereotyping and bias interventions.
BREAKING: A federal judge in Massachusetts (the Reagan-appointed William Young) has declared the Trump administration's cuts to NIH grants β ostensibly over Trump's EOs on gender ideology and DEI β are "illegal" and "void." He's ordering many grants restored.

Caught a bit of this On Point episode about de-churching. Challenges some of the CW that de-churching is only a phenomenon of the political left. A lot of food for thought for political psychologists www.wbur.org/radio/progra...
βThe system has become so instrumentalizedβHow can this help me succeed?βthat deeper questions about meaning/purpose are off the table, questions like: How do I become a generous human? How do I lead a life of meaning? How do I build good character?β-David Brooks www.theatlantic.com/magazine/arc...
NSF makes you say who you got conflicts (coauthored) with. We (really just Jordan Matelsky) just built you a tool for that. Literally one click: bib.experiments.kordinglab.com/nsf-coa

Philip Zimbardo passed away this week at 91. The silence surrounding news of the passing of a scholar of his prominence is very unusual, but won't surprise many who question the authenticity his famous work. To me, it is an ending to a tragic tale of the pursuit of a meaningful intellectual legacy.
Thanks Hannah! No SPR for me this year.
Writing this was cathartic! Thank you to my parents & wife for encouraging me to share our story. I hope it resonates w/ others feeling the squeeze of academia, raising kids, & supporting aging parents. www.science.org/content/arti...

Ohio State v Michigan rn! Makes me wonder do these βcontrolled intergroup conflictsβ work like prescribed burns to remove the fuel underlying our racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, us v them competitive nature, etc or instead primes the pump for more??? Depends on whether your team wins the game?!

Does the public hate experiments?
No!
"We find that 75% support the idea of small-scale evaluations of policies before enacting them at scale."
Experimentally varying whether the evaluations are called "experiments" has zero effect on support of experimentation

π¨ Science Resources for BlueSky π¨
Scientist? Just joined BlueSky? Hereβs four resources you might find useful.
#AcademicSky π§ͺ π§΅
(1) A list of over 130 subject-specific feeds. Find posts by others in your area and use the right tags in your posts to get them seen.
Recs for a free social media aggregator to embed posts on my lab website (my old posts from twitter & potentially new ones here)? I use the feed of these posts to share news on my lab website and don't want recent twitter ones to disappear if switch to posting w/ Bluesky. Thanks for any suggestions!
Sharing this R resources database with y'all! For the past 4 years, I have been accumulating resources (mainly free ones) for new & advanced #Rlearners in their programming journey. Feel free to share!
