That classic meme of the cartoon cat Heathcliff riding a ham-mobile with a helmet on that says "Ham" as two old ladies watch from the safety of a ham-colored house. One of the ladies, Grandma Nutmeg, is speaking. The caption reads, "Is it Thursday already?"

I'm going to do everything in my power to make this one of those weekly memes.

This morning I poured cereal into my cup and then stared at my empty bowl for like 30 seconds before I figured out what was wrong.

I do like the rendering of the 105, so I would recommend it.

I'm bouncing back and forth between formats right now as I test the different cameras. I want to spend a lot of time learning camera movements, so I will be shooting LF quite a bit, but MF is much more convenient for hiking.

But first I need to get the camera repaired: it has a broken frame counter mechanism so it won't arm the shutter without some trickery, and only gives 8 frames instead of 10 on a roll.

It came with the 105mm and a 200mm. I'm saving up to pick up a 55mm for landscapes.

This was an incredible find! The Leica was one of the most surprising inclusions: the collection was in boxes when I bought it after seeing the Pentax 6x7, the Speed Graphic, and a few folding cameras.

The previous owners inherited all of it from an uncle who collected it over a lifetime.

I'm now up to 126 cameras from this collection cleaned, function checked, and catalogued. The oldest so far is from 1904 and the newest from 2009.

I've got less than a dozen left to go.

Gonna shoot one heck of a camera timeline with these.

Mirror reflex is probably my favorite, for accuracy of composition primarily. Though I do love the focus accuracy of a well-calibrated rangefinder and the big ground glass of a proper TLR.

It got properly tough to read fluently at 1200, and I lost the plot entirely in 1100. There go my dreams of fluent communication with the subjects of William the Conqueror.

Every dumpster truck you see is an assertion of this false universe where Elon is smart, artistry doesn't matter, the driver is tough and cool, and apartheid's reign will never end. It shouts "THESE ARE NORMAL IDEAS" to all who see it, trying to impose that world on this one.

Okay, I think I like these designs better?

The Mothra symbol was most complicated, and I'm still not totally satisfied with it. I think I want it to look more like the version of the symbol they make out of tables, with the antennae-esque S-shaped sunbeam lines.

Leica Freedom Train - Wikipedia

Ernst Leitz II of Leica and his daughter worked to smuggle Jews out of Germany to escape the Holocaust. She was arrested for it. Leica doesn't seem to hide their WW2 history, including the bad parts (making rangefinders and cameras for the Nazis).

Shocking news out of Minneapolis

Joe and Eileen Bailey, the imaginary, middle-class Long Island couple @schumer.senate.gov consults to make political decisions, were killed by imaginary ICE Agents I use to try to get Chuck Schumer to understand the historical moment we want him to respond to.

A photo from a lost roll from Acadia, now found and developed. Definitely among my most fortuitous shots; this spot was crowded, but people moved back just long enough for me to snap this rainbow & sunset.

Abolish ICE is the conservative position. Immediately trying ICE agents and DHS leaders for their crimes and abolishing the org is the moderate position.

Anything to the right of abolition is fascist.

It's always been abolish ICE.

For the first time, more Americans support abolishing ICE than oppose it. But Republicans are proposing hundreds of millions in funding for this lawless agency.

I'll oppose this bill. We cannot give more money to an agency responsible for terrorizing our communities.
