The contrast between threads and Bluesky is interesting. It’s like true work-life balance. However, I tend to like my worlds to collide. I probably shouldn’t. 😂

Christian, Husband, Father, Professor, and Social Scientist. PhD in something I was told I should be able to explain in less than 30 seconds. I’m the people’s curmudgeon - happiest grumpy person you’ll ever meet. ΩΨΦ ⚡️🐶🐾 There will be typos. Thanks.

If I run regressions for a living, does that count as residual income? 🤭🤗
Having to push back on the fraud (and joblessness) narrative annoys me so much. Fraud is extremely low in this program. Even if it was high, people still need food.
I really should have put together a panel on DEI and activism for SIOP 26. That’s my bad. I hope someone else made the move.
Me still researching, teaching, and speaking on leadership + DEI because it’s part of my professional identity, it’s what I love, and I won’t/can’t erase that.
Happy new semester!
It seems like this should be illegal. “Give us $X so we can give you $XX.” So, we’re just moving cash around?
I’m either extremely productive before a Zoom meeting and show up late because I was absorbed by the work, or I’m not productive at all and show up on time.
To be clear, I don’t expect them to turn it around until they’re ready to do so. I just know it startles students when I do this.
Sent my doc student dissertation draft feedback in less than 24 hours just to spook her. I know you thought you’d have a few days off. Nope! Back at ya! 🤣
I know people aren’t inviting Musk back into their safe spaces because he picked a fight with Trump… A wolf that bites another wolf isn’t protecting you. It’s protecting its dinner. You’re next.
So, Black person was existing and their ring app captured evidence of said existence?
As long as the bar for racism is set by racists, we’ll be here.
So if the name of our field is gonna be ridiculous, one approach is to own every single syllable.

Rand Paul effectively admitting that the US is the biggest arms dealer in the world while sitting in a congress that does the bare minimum when it comes to preventing school shootings is the kind of sobering moment that “Second Amendment Americans” need but will likely ignore.
This is the weird thing about people and this administration. The tariffs weren’t necessary. These “budget cuts” could have been done in a fair and systematic way. Breaking things and then partially repairing them doesn’t deserve praise. It’s less than the bare minimum that is expected of you.
If someone pours bleach in your drinking water, waits around until you’re dehydrated, and then gives you fresh water just before you’re too far gone, you’re thankful for that clean water because it was a relief - it’s a good thing. However, you shouldn’t forget who tainted the water.
Can’t figure out what it is about my LinkedIn profile that makes automated ads inbox me about getting an MBA.
Thank you!
I hooded my first phd student last week. I couldn’t be prouder of her hard work and list of accomplishments. We’re now academic cousins.
“Michael” called to tell me my tv receiver box was out of date and I would no longer receive a signal. I told “Michael” that I don’t own such a device, and I could hear the disappointment in his voice. This scam would have been top tier in 2009. Times have changed, Michael. We stream now.
Recent BBQ content. We love jerk chicken.
@hakeemjefferson.bsky.social @neillewisjr.bsky.social I used that recipe from Dole. Don’t sleep. 🤣
I’ve never felt good about Gavin Newsom. I could definitely put my finger on why, but I figured there was no need to share because he’d do it eventually. And here we are.
😂
Adding you to my letter writer list. Thanks!

He and her uncle had a different relationship - mutual respect but different. Mr. Chan had White employees, but to me, he respected them but was more guarded. I never saw him or his family outside of the restaurant (other than his school-age daughter). When Covid hit, he the business.
What I witnessed was primarily between Mr. Chan, owner of a very successful restaurant, his Black employees, and my father. My father was a well-known attorney. There was a clear, mutual respect between them. They identified with each other. Mr. Chan employed my wife’s uncle for years.
I watched it today. There are some real and I interesting layers in the plot. I grew up 70 miles from Clarksdale, and some of the interactions between the Black and Chinese characters reminded me of similar interactions I witnessed back home.
Hey, Lars! 😉
