A friend of the site made this website where you can easily view all of your team's players in the WBC that day with game times and matchups: wbcforme.com

I'm in a photograph that hangs in a museum. One of my textbooks in college used that photo on the title page.
The creator of Nearby Glasses made the app after reading 404 Media's coverage of how people are using Meta's Ray-Bans smartglasses to film people without their knowledge or consent. How it works:

Every Winter Olympics I'm reminded of this brilliant SNL skit with Jason Priestly.
Whenever I read something about the French judge in ice dancing for this Olympics I hear it in Julia Sweeney's voice: "This, of course, would be the [French] judge."

"The initiative to have the Secret Service purchase suits happened because Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem disliked how a protective detail was dressed in the suits they bought for themselves, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN."
Yesterday at work, boss:
"Women's US hockey just beat Canada in OT!"
Co-worker who watches Heated Rivalry but not hockey:
"But is anyone engaged or slighted ex-lovers?"
Me: Yes.
Her: wait, really?!
Discovered today that Instagram had turned on (without my opt-in) automatic AUDIO translation of any reel that shows up in my feed not in English USING AI TO MIMIC THE SPEAKERβS VOICE and WOW it was creepy and upsetting.
You can turn it off in βLanguage & Translationsβ in Settings. π

Very nice! First time I tried a vintage crochet pattern it was Danish translated to English. I was fairly new to crochet & didn't know about UK's double crochet being different than U.S. Also didn't realize it was a UK translation. That shawl came out... interesting.

Ok, what was up with the Olympic announcer saying "She's FORTY-TWO! FOOOOOORRRRRTY-TWOOOO!"
I realize that it is not common for someone to compete in figure skating at that age but he says it like he's shocked she can bend over to tie her laces, let alone skate, at such an advanced age.
A coworker of mine moved to Seattle after Marshawn had retired. Seeing all the billboards and bus ads, she thought he was the owner of Beacon Plumbing and had no idea he was a football player
Burkas are about to become wildly, inexplicably popular.
Howling to the Oldies:
Howl along with the old dogs that are howling on tv
A co-worker said on Slack today, [referring to the Olympics]:
US hockey is doing well and I feel like I'm watching the movie "Miracle" in real time.
Wait until she finds out what the movie is based on!
So awesome! Plus his posture echos (inspired?) the animation of the Peanuts kids dancing!
the rollout of the mRNA vaccines was one of the greatest public health triumphs in history and the end result has been the all-around triumph of the antivax movement and I will never get over it

May your day include goodness however you spend it, be it searching for whales, cheering on the Seahawks, or other endeavors.
Orcas were reported in S Port Susan earlier & "Sounders" gray whales are out there too somewhere.

Came here to say this. Blazer fans remember!
If itβs any comfort, weβre ALL losing our goddamn minds.
Okay hereβs my βcontributionβ to Super Bowl discourse: on Instagram, the Pacific Northwest Ballet has challenged the Boston Ballet. You must watch their video because if I tried to describe it you wouldnβt believe meβ¦

Dear US Olympic TV announcers: Finland is NOT Scandinavian. You can clump them in with the Scandinavian countries when you say "Nordic" but not when you say "Scandinavia"
Dear Santa, I would like Finland's opening ceremony coat
Oh my God, this is simply not possible.
It cannot be possible.
The NIH director, the DIRECTOR, does not know what actually happens at the NIH. Like, what?!
[My best friend spent two decades at NIH as an intramural researcher; the NIH has an intramural research program, irp.nih.gov/].
