NBA 3s or nothing era is worse for basketball stats than steroids were for baseball
The MCU, confused what went wrong the past 5 years
And to Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, and will return in Avengers: Doomsday
That's a good one, although the new universe reboot certainly changes the dynamic
Its an argument!
Sketchbooks for everyone!
Iβve been reading a lot of Lynda Barry lately and her ethos feels like a wonderful antidote to a world of dehumanization drawnandquarterly.com/books/making...
The Avengers Doomsday approach apparently speed running Marvel Comics longheld fascination with "Back to Basics" got me thinking how historically this approach almost never resonates long term.
Exceptions would be early 2000s Astonishing X-Men and Waid/Wieringo Fantastic Four.
Football fans dumb homophobia on full display!
Another good reason, most Iceman comics aren't very good, but every fourth is great
Reasons I like Caleb Williams as Iceman
1) Cold
2) Underrated
3) So much potential
4) There's a weird obsession on Insta with Caleb being closeted and Bendis will probably have Jean Grey out him sometime around the Super Bowl but good for him that's my QB1

All that said - it's been very interesting to see other comics pros dig into and explain *why* it looks like Deodato used AI on this project. Sharing those tells is useful, so others can get it right.
I don't really doubt for a second the coverage could/should have been better. Maybe it was done with completely open eyes.
But we don't see challenging journalism often at the *highest* levels of import. And y'all expect it in comics? We're talking 'bout comics!
I don't know the writer personally, but I've been in a similar situation, where if not for a very experienced editor, I'd have run with some big 'ol lies because a creator told them to me, and I believed them (why would they lie so brazenly?).
My editor chased it down and then didn't run it.
I see The Beat is getting hammered for running w/ Mike Deodato's denial that he used AI significantly in a recent comics project
My main takeaway is empathy for an un/barely paid writer badly prepared to call B.S. on a professional artist. I've been there. You're not expecting the need to Woodward.
