B) A growth curve showing the Mycobacterium smegmatis lacking EtfD can grow when glucose is provided as the carbon source, but has a slight growth delay. Complementing the ∆etfD strain with M. tuberculosis on a plasmid rescues the defect. EtfD links beta oxidation to OxPhos in mycobacteria - recent work suggests that targeting EtfD could shorten #tubeculosis treatment.

Tuberculosis myth: "Tuberculosis is easy to treat." Fact: Yes, with access to quality health care, tuberculosis (TB) is curable! And no: TB is expensive to cure (~$23K in the USA). TB Requires 4-6 months of daily treatment to cure. TB must be accurately diagnosed before it can be treated, and the tests are often unaffordable where they are most needed.

Pleased to highlight a new preprint from the lab. This is the work of my longtime collaborator in the lab Allison Fay, who wanated to create new tools for disocvery biology in mycobacteria, specifically a new sysem for protein localizaton and proximity proteomics.
