I'm pretty skeptical about the finding of 2 of those papers for other reasons.
But wouldn't you expect the uncoating to be arfgap dependent rather than tethering?
I guess both need to happen simultaneously in rapid succession,
but why would VPS41 affect uncoating?

Corrine Smith and Steve royle's lab showed very nicely that the beta3 ear is insufficient to aid clathrin assembly despite the functional clathrin box in the hinge.
Figure 2C. Replacing B3 ear with B2 ear on the B3 hinge allowed clathrin assembly (notably not as good as AP2)

Doesn't it just makes more sense that VPS41 is part of HOPS complex and facilitates teething/fusion of AP3 carriers by it's interaction with Delta hinge?

That being said AP3, AP4 and AP5 all still lack structures on lipid bilayers and COPI hasn't been resolved in solution. So describing the conformational changes of the family remain incomplete but it's exciting to see almost all the pieces of this puzzle.

Now finally at least one structure of each of the 6 human AP complexes has been published!
We are finally getting close to holistically understanding the differences/intricacies in both recruitment and vesicle formation of this family.

I have been wondering why this wasn't already solved for at least 4 years.
Glad to see it finally.

This!
I have also seen papers show tenuous PAE plots and then state that it must be a "weak interaction" as if it's a metric of binding affinity.

The mechanistic basis of cargo selection during Golgi maturation
Resident proteins of the Golgi recycle in vesicles and the protein GOLPH3 enables the COPI vesicle coat to accomplish this.

Same, it's pulled out some very exciting and unexpected interactors for me. However I find the coverage is somewhat patchy and there are some obvious misses

Yes. It was running fine a few days ago but went down mid search. My guess is too much user traffic.

EHD2 forms rings on caveolae necks, in contrast to most EHDs forming helices. We determined its structure on membranes and show that N-term acts as a spacer
