Pattern: Day and Night Socks

Compilation of 17 pairs of socks made in different colors and techniques. All socks have been made in spring 2023 during SockMadness or Supersock World Championship.

#fiberuarychallenge ’Then and now’. 1987, 13 years old. Not my first knit, but the one that made me love love love knitting - but not as much intarsia. It was HARD for a teen me. For years I only made sweaters. Nowadays I am more into socks.

FossileFrenzySweater has yoke and some more finished. Nothing really to see here, just a work in progress in the not so fancy phase.

1x1 ribbing of a swatch. 1/3 in brioche, 1/3 in half brioche and 1/3 plain 2 color ribbing. Planning phase for a sweater pattern and testing with a swatch how and if I will modify the pattern.

Two socks made first toe up and then toe down. Socks are attached to each other in the middle and will be split in 2 later. Pattern name is Conjoined Sock Twins since they are not separated until in the very end. Toe up sock has been finished, toe down sock is in the decrease part after heel flap.

Grey one is FossileFrenzySweater coming along nicely. Swatch is me testing brioche, half brioche and 2 color ribbing for Beloved cardigan. And mad sock is qualifier for #SockMadness. I have other WIPs but everything good comes in threes?

For test purposes, I am Merriam-Webster and use this in a sentence: Earlier today I knitpicked 2 yarns at a LYS for my WIP to be, Beloved. 🙂‍↕️

I think we really need to casually just start to knitpick as if it IS the word.

I have made Homeland Cardigan by Sanni. (Buttons missing, but I AM working through those WIP’s!) Pattern was clearly written, so she is on my designers I have knitted and can recommend list 🖤

Sock resembling a silly little fish with a bulgy eye, and fins. A sock for children and playfully minded people. Next to fully finished fish there is second one without the final touches.

One fish done! Starting to look like one actually. Dorsal fin maybe a bit on the smallish side, but will swim with it. Clearing needles for #SockMadness

Left I assume based on the beatiful twisted stitches we can admire on the right one. Would not have noticed without prompting!

Knitting is my meditation. Calms me down.

I like learning new techniques, and there was a time I was looking for harder and harder patterns to push myself.

Sweaters and socks are my favorites. I have too many scarves. Rarely I choose hats or mittens.

Pair of unfinished socks laying flat at the arm rest. Pattern made with miniature smocking stitch that resembles scales of a fish. Socks will look more like fishes when fins and bubbly eyes added. Now they just look like unusual pair of socks where details are not detailing. There are other knitting related bits and bobs around the socks. A telltale sign that person who took the picture, cares more about knitting than taking amazing and well planned photographs

Perfect timing to find this #skyKAL! Started spring 2023, and just recently started working again on these little fishes again.

The eyes will just POP when finished.

I wish to finish these by the end of this week. Make me accountable skyKAL peeps 😄

Pair of socks that have clever design of knits and purls to create a heart-shaped tree top and texture to mimick tree trunk.

#ShowMeYourKnits through a curveball this week. I do not choose heart motif that often. But I did find one bad picture of hearts in socks that had so much purling that I chose to knit this pair inside out!

I just recently did the same. Bought really nice pants on impulse. Knew right away, I have a yarn that will be a perfect match. Said yarn is 20 stiches short of being part of complete outfit!
