This week I took a walk around Southwark with the police and fantastic local Lib Dem team - including @vmmchamberlain.bsky.social

We are absolutely clear across London - the Govt and Mayor must give the Met the funding they need to keep stations open, recruit more officers, and keep us all safe.

Earlier in Westminster Hall I spoke on the need to build the next generation of green, affordable, safe homes for Londoners - and to end the broken leasehold system altogether.

Today's announcement on housing targets in London is infuriating.

The Mayor and Govt are effectively handing developers a get-out, and Londoners on waiting lists across our city will suffer.

This will not solve our housing crisis.

Southwark sees 77% rise in homeless children, report finds There is one classroom worth of homeless children for every primary school, the report says.

This is unacceptable. While across London child homelessness has been stable, under Labour in Southwark it's risen by 77%.

Labour's failure to get a grip on the housing crisis in our borough is shameful. No child should be growing up without a safe, secure home.
