The only things left are the memories and this chair in a burnt-out and long-abandoned hotel on the old Route 66. In this section of New Mexico, there are quite of few GEMS like this. It wasn't much of a shot until the sun poked through a small hole in the roof. I took that as my sign that this chair...wanted a photograph. So be it, little buddy.

The beauty of a pie-making contest is, of course, eating said pies. In this case, the community got to enjoy a slice of the prize-winning recipes. This young lady has selected her favorite and is preparing to indulge. YUMMY

The 4th of July brought out many folks ready to party and live it up, except this young man's little brother. He's had just about enough of this nonsense!

The pie-making class brought out some clever tools indeed. This apple peeler made short order of those pesky peels.

This apple pie was almost done with assembly....put a fancy top on it, bake, eat......sounds easy enough!

This bridge spans Mitchell Creek as it exits Mitchell Lake in the Brainard Lake Recreation Area above Boulder, Colorado. Early morning hike had us joining a moose and her baby for a surprise sighting of each other. It could have been a disaster. This is a relatively short...long exposure as anything longer tends to blow out the water a bit too much. Strange conditions in the wild this year as most of the flowers are gone...but it's not quite wet enough for mushrooms. Trees, water, and bridges, it is!!!

When I decided to return to photography after a lengthy absence, I decided the best path forward was to learn from photographers that had actually made a name for themselves...and that I considered great. One day I asked him for an idea to work on for building skills. His only answer was "Light Painting". No explanation or description...just light painting. After I got home I came up with the idea I would use the flowers I had, a dagger I owned...and a Bic lighter. This is a 30 second exposure where I literally moved the lighter around the flowers in a fashion I thought might look like "lighting". What a fun project. Years ago but I still am stunned at how it came out!
