It's really good. The art is fantastic and the gunplay is solid.

It's a bit 'harsher'/difficult than Arc, but not quite as harsh as Tarkov. Also a bit more PVP oriented, since there's a faction that wants you to kill other players for rep.

D2 wasn't free at launch either, fwiw

I'm bad at pvp but I love extraction shooters. I try to sneak around and avoid combat unless I can get the advantage somehow.

And Marathon is really good! 😊

It depends on whether it's the company culture to plagiarize or it was a single employee doing it.

AFAIK, the employee is no longer with them and they settled with the artist, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

There is a solo queue, so you won't have to fight 3 man teams.

The AI is tuned for 3 mans, so it's a challenge, but I like it a lot.

I played the server slam. It's really good. So good that I'm trawling Bluesky for Marathon chatter while I wait for launch tomorrow :D

Marathon seems to me to be somewhere between Tarkov and Arc on the harshness scale. The sponsored kits in Marathon are a lot better than the pistol/rig kits I run in Tarkov when I'm broke.

You should give it a shot. Everyone I've talked to that have actually tried it love it. And a lot of those people were indifferent or negative before trying it. It's a good game.

Search for "marathon" here. People that actually played the server slam (including me) are positive, unless they don't like pvp in general.
