On todayβs episode of: trying to cope with anglosphere construction costs
Definitely! However, most of the required tunnels are there. The reason there is so little on Greek rail policy is because it has never been coherent enough to be throughly documented - even in Greek.
As for the A7, my major complaint is how overbuilt it is, 2+2 throughout was an overkill.
Leaving major Peloponnesian cities out has been a strategic and political choice - deciding to build the A7 Motorway instead of moving forward with a new rail link to Kalamata. Only in the northwest would it be hard to build case for rail, due to very difficult topography and a small population.
Not really: certain Greek rΓ©gions (Thessaly and Thrace) had decent regional service until 2011, with many full trains and multiple daily services. Athens to Thessaloniki is doable in 3:30-3:45 on current infra with upgrades (see my thread)

β¦with no experience in military equipment. Building that knowledge alone would take years and people who wouldnβt settle for Greek wages. Capacity is also a problem with smaller yards, which would see no reason to grow/cooperate/merge with competitors when their business is already doing well.
Easier said than done: currently there are two large scale shipyards in Greece that could potentially produce large military ships en masse: Athens and Syros - both of which are pretty much inactive since the recession and were declining for decades prior to that. The rest are smaller yardsβ¦
The only question I have is WHY?

OSM map showing the Greek railway network with black lines and the old proposal for the Kalampaka - Kozani line with red. Some important stations are shown with circle blobs.
Greek Railways want to conduct an Environmental Impact Study on the railway line Kalampaka - Kozani, the first half up to Dimitra.
The line shown on the map is the almost century old proposal, hopefully not the same as the new one (no data available so far). Map data from OSM.
no I do not do that

That is odd... though LH keeps routes to its main hubs *usually* to itself (CGN-MUC is an exception for instance, it is operated by both airlines at the moment). Regardless, I would expect EW to sell LH tickets; it is possible the other way round
Agreed! However, LH seems to prefer to push their BER strategy on Eurowings, maybe to better compete with EasyJet...
(2/2) Also, the BER-FRA/MUC is insanely busy and profitable, with a big chunk being connecting passengers. LH even introduced a frequency of 1 flight per hour years ago to keep up with demand (still exists, albeit with gaps). It is unlikely they would like to undermine these profitable routes.
Lufthansa establishing a hub in BER has been considered afaik, especially after the AirBerlin ceased operations. Two main problems: Unlike Frankfurt and Munich, Berlin has never been a major centre for corporate in the country - a problem, since LH is very strongly focused on business pax (1/2)
Overhated and underrated
it is that or Paris (Paris PROPER not all of Γle-de-France)
The BahnCard works on vibes and not technology, I am convinced
Increase in criminality is one of the most common arguments against cycling infra, transit or any "good urbanism" measures π€‘
NEW: Six out of ten new EU city buses were zero-emission in 2025, led by four countries where 100% of new buses were battery-electric: Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia & Latvia.
Thatβs a huge leap from just 12% in 2019 when the EU adopted the Clean Vehicles Directive.

Dropping a masterclass soon who wants to join?
I do not doubt the coolness factor but hearing this parallel to every single failure to deliver HS2 is infuriating to say the least - despite both being totally seperate matters
"flying bigger jets right into the heart of the city can be more profitable and cheaper than running fast high-capacity trains" is basically a planning failure, let's be real about this
I would be surprised if they get anything more than a fancy livery
another recession indicator
I believe that just like maglevs, the hyperloop will haunt the transport world for years to come smdh
