Plot Twist: Over explaining bits and jokes is one of my favorite bits
If you have an desire to read something about eating disorder recovery, fantasy fitness, and myriad of ways the thinness obsession is Very Bad, I'd love your thoughts on my first Substack post. Excited to be writing more.
I've been off all my social media for months, but I heard Nate Silver shit on Bluesky, so here I am joining back in just to spite him.
Also, they're already being investigated. π«
I filed a complaint, and learned they are absolutely not supposed to be telling people that because it'd be illegal for them to keep your car. If it's after 5pm, it can just take longer to get back after because security would need to get your key and drive you to your vehicle.
The cardiac wing at my hospital requires valet parking, but the valet parking closes before the appointments end. Because that makes sense.

This many adults collectively realizing checks and balances aren't going stop what's happening and redeem our government is like an entire primary school being told Santa, the Tooth Fairy, and the Easter Bunny aren't real at an assembly.
Take a brain break and (re)watch Damson Chola Jr.'s performance of "Make Them Hear You" from "Ragtime" at last year's @jimmyawards.bsky.social. It's good for the soul to recognize young people's talents + capabilities, remember the enduring fortitude of our communities, and enjoy the arts.
I heard there are more genders than guns, so there's no way to regulate it. Even if they make laws, there is so much black market gender out there, not to mention the types of pronouns available on the dark web.
we don't talk about pierogies enough
Spectacle-filled theatrics aren't just for Broadway because all the world's a stage
"There was a city called Washington in a country called America. It was the end of the world. And I was dancing on TikTok, and we were all fast asleep." --eliah.gb on TikTok
In this economy? A win is a win.

So odd that they aren't allowing people to tag them social media
All these hese unprecedented events keep becoming increasingly more precedented
THANK YOU, UnitedHealth Care, for authorizing the meds my doctor prescribed!
Prior authorization is a beautiful reminder that no matter how isolating chronic illness/disability feel, you're always there, guiding the course of my treatment through your exceptions, denials, & preauthorizations. π
Someone on Twitter writes: "Unfortunately die work wear or whatever is a psyop to turn men into women . Cuz why the hell else would he be telling them to dress that gay"
The year is 2035. I meet President AOC in the Oval Office. "You've done well," she says. "By telling men to dress gay, you've lowered the population rate by 90%, thereby reducing carbon emissions." She slides me a manilla envelope. I can now afford a home in a walkable neighborhood
There are plenty of alternatives that have proven success for addressing and reducing crime and for rehabilitating those who committed the crime. But the US doesn't want that because the 13th amendment means they can use incarceration and prison labor to "solve" social and economic issues.
People in US Federal Prisions, 1925 to 2022 The bar graph shows slight flucuations until 1972 when a steep increase begins taking the imprisoned population from less than 250,000 to more than 1,500,000 by 2004. Population slightly decreases through 2010's but rises again in 2022. Graph from The Sentencing Project. "Sources: Cahalan, M. W. (1986). Historical corrections statistics in the United States, 1850-1984. Bureau of Justice Statistics; Carson, E. A. (2023). Prisoners in 2022βStatistical tables. Bureau of Justice Statistics."
Re paying for room/boars, it is TREMENDOUSLY expensive to keep people incarcerated. CA estimated $133,110 per person for 24/25. Despite cost, US incarceration rates have steeply increased since 1970, and we have the 3rd highest rate of incarceration; Cuba and Rowanda are 1st and 2nd respectively.
Lots of work exchanges include room and board as part of some salary packages, but this isn't a work exchange. We can't remove the context of the prisonal industrial complex. Providing lodging and food to the people he enslaved doesn't mean George Washington (et. al) wasn't enslaving people.
Today's a great day to...

Labor exploitation can also refer to denying proper benefits, training, or protective measures for the work to be done safely, excessive work hours required of those exempt from overtime, un/underpaid labor, requiring additional responsibilities w/o adjusting wage & title appropriate.
This forced labor (enslavement) includes labor that has significant health risks, like fighting wildfires, as well as jobs that they would not be able to be hired for after their release due to their felony conviction. For more on this, Ava DuVerney's documentary 13th is a great resource:
Labor exploitation is when someone is overworked, underpaid, and/or can't leave the job/seek additional options.
In this instance, I'm referring to the incarcerated people being forced to work for both the state and private companies (like McDonalds) for dollars a day or less.
You can want all the people and animals to be safe and for California to have plenty of firefighters all while simultaneously remaining 1000% against exploiting the labor of incarcerated people.
Slavery as punishment of crime is still enslavement.
