If nothing else you are using "etymology" incorrectly. Etymology is the study of where words came from, and you're talking about the meaning of the word "guisarme" in practice, which is I believe semantics. You'd need to check with a linguist!

When used as an add-on, like with a glaive-guisarme or voulge-guisarme, the term is used to denote the addition of a hook on the back just as often as a spike on the back.

One of the reasons I love it for a trans coded weapon is that it actively resists the question "what is a guisarme?"

I don't think that's entirely correct; I've not found any etymology thatvduggests it comes from a term meaning "spike." That most commonly cited ettmology is that it comes from a term meaning "weeding iron" but that can easily be debated!
