there is a lot of good to be found here -- good art, good writing, good community -- but frankly i am so tired of being pummeled with new discourse without context and new iterations of people exhibiting some of the nastiest behavior imaginable

maybe i just need to quit social media.

i don't think it's unreasonable to talk about whether a guy in a fucked up power structure should walk away from said power structure. i think it's reasonable to call him to account for harming trans women. i *do* think it's unreasonable and unproductive for it to have blown up as much as it has

yeah i can't help but feel like there's some folks who are looking for transfeminine review to be the transfem equivalent of Peter Travers, which is fantastic if you're a creator but borderline useless if you're a reader

idk I'd never enjoy seeing my books used to put down another indie trans author's work. I bet a lot of my peers would feel the same way.

there's a lot of books out there I don't get along with, and plenty of folks who don't get along with mine. no desire to pit 'em against each other though.

we're all out there passing the same $25 back & forth trying to support each other while we're being targeted by forces larger than ourselves. Some of us have been fortunate to build a fanbase, but that gets more fraught when we're putting books (& their fans by association) up against each other
