Actually the creator (Steve Grand) has been writing a new game called Grandroids (renamed to "Phantasia") in an attempt to recreate the AI with current logic/code. Dudes been at it since 2014, since the conception of modern AI, I'm sure there's other devs already working on the same concept rn.

Creatures from *1996, I saw the same video few days ago lol. I never played it but i had a demo/virtual trailer of Creatures within my copy of Petz 3 or 4. I thought Petz had decent AI as a pet simulator, but Creatures was def far complex with permanence to learning, impressive for the 90s honestly.
