We set out methods to identify plausible #LTNs in the cities, using Newcastle as an example. By measuring through-routes, modal filters and the level of permeability within each neighbourhood, we propose a scoring method which identifies the “LTNness” of a given area

And I also had the pleasure in helping to award the @casaucl.bsky.social prize for spatial analysis, in memory of Sinesio Alves Junior, with @adamdennett.bsky.social and other CASA researchers, to the well deserving @chris-larkin.bsky.social for his PhD work on cycling and low traffic neighbourhoods
Our results show that by closing small gaps between LTNs, we can rapidly grow safe, connected cycling networks — enabling safe cycling with minimal investment. 🚲🌍
Excited to develop this further with all the feedback I received throughout the conference!
This work introduces a new approach to identify where and in what order cycle networks should be connected, using LTNs and existing infrastructure.
This aims to give planners a long-term vision for complete cycle networks while highlighting where to focus initial efforts to get 'quick wins'
