In the coming months, I aim to expand the editorial board across a number of areas and disciplines, encourage Open Science principles for empirical work, and, through the introduction of new article types (e.g. debates, target articles, series)...
Their work has built a strong foundation for the future. I feel privileged, excited, (and daunted!) to take the reins and hope to help support the growing community of scholars across the sciences and humanities contributing to this field. My deepest thanks and admiration to Tom for all his work!

Very pleased that this paper led by Will Gervais is now out in PNAS. Philosopher Dan Dennett coined the phrase 'belief in belief' for believing that belief in God is a good thing. In this paper, we document just how widespread it is, even among atheists in relatively nonreligious countries.
