They should probably pop down to the bar and have a drink or something. Can't do any harm, right?
amid various reports and studies confirming that in most cases using LLMs in your work makes you less productive (BC more error prone), I saw a fascinating poll that showed that office workers and c-suite differed hugely on whether and how much LLMs saved them time at work
At the end of Feb, I'm putting on a rehearsed reading of a new play I've written in North London. It's called Old Monsters: Bela and Boris, and I think people will get a kick out of it.

This is interesting, because while everything about it is absurdly disrespectful, it sets quite a high price on the training value of a novel (if you make a rough equivalence about work done) to use as a benchmark for (say) future litigation.
The report uses evidence from over 10,000 creators & is published byβ―the Society of Authors, the @ism-music.bsky.social, @equityuk.bsky.social, the Association of Illustrators, & @assocphoto.bsky.social It reveals the erosion of creatorsβ bread-and-butter work in an increasingly AI-driven world

If you're in the UK and you're annoyed that you don't know which AI companies are training on your copyrighted work without permission, the reason is now simple: the Labour party.
This isn't a political statement - it's a fact.

This is long. But it's also magnificent, and absolutely worth your time if you're interested in where the new Pope seems to be going. Grab a drink before you start.
So, the @princecharlescinema.com is under threat by landlords who want to cash in on their site. Absolutely horrendous news. This is a brilliant, brilliant place.

Re current major layoffs at Splash Damage/Bulkhead, I know things wonβt always feel this terminal, but bloody hell, itβs so sad.
One thing I can say with confidence: writing someone a detailed, bespoke personal/professional Recommendation on LinkedIn really, REALLY helps.
A view out across the beach and over the sea. There are some clouds in the sky, particularly one I thought was pretty because it bulged down as well as up.
Some excellent clouds on show while I was out and about yesterday.
I've said this before, and I feel the need to say it today. Women SF&F writers donβt take best-of lists, recommended-for-award-nominations and shortlists, these articles and review columns that erase us βpersonallyβ. We object because they damage us professionally.

Itβs a beach. I swear thereβs some water out there somewhere but that tide is OUT.
Another hectic day in the office.
Youβve got form, mate. Nice try, but no dice.
Out of the blue? I see what you did there!
More seriously, though, here's to new beginnings. It's been a long time since we were all shiny and new on Twitter; lessons have been learned, toxic people left behind and life's much quieter now, which I have to say I like very much indeed. And I have the sea again, after too long away.
I suppose I should make this something interesting, really. A new start on a new platform. Something meaningful, deep - profound even.
Hmm...
It was a bit parky out this evening. I might have to consider breaking out the long trousers if this keeps up.
Ah well, better luck next time, I guess.
Guess I just became one in a million, then. Hello world.
