i'm also still bummed that despite going to a private Catholic school, a lot of the public schools in the city had waaay better out of school programs. the Jesuits were too business-oriented to bother with the arts or sending us out on field trips when i was finishing up high school.
and i'd say it took my school 50 years to realize students needed lockers instead of making kids from preschool to senior year bring ALL textbooks for ALL classes to school and back home. i knew we were getting the best education on the island at the time but jfc.
as for lunch at the cafeteria, there was zero line. you'd have to rush out to the cafeteria to the stalls before they were inundated with students with money in hand reaching out to the stressed out cashier... and this took the school forever to realize.
we had an extremely petty teacher who would mark the whole class as tardy because the previous teacher was rushing to get out of the classroom and making them wait. sure, it's the students' fault. this was in the Philippines so we didn't leave the classroom to go to another class, except lab.
it took 60 years for my high school to add 5-minute preparations for the next class to start. it also took 60 years for my high school to realize that students need to form a line at the cafeteria instead of bum-rushing the food stalls like the Vietnam War evacuations.
