Looks like heating oil / diesel is spiking the most. Stand by for the interrupter from the Energy Board.
Pretty much every truck, tractor and excavator runs on diesel, which means inflation will go up to.
Oil markets open around 8% higher.
Budgets are already set for the year (awaiting Energy Board approval). Electricity is also less dependant on oil, and the expected impact on coal and natgas is less clear. But whatever impact will be delayed.
Regardless, the faster we can get off imported fossil fuels, the better.
In a few hours oil trading markets will open, and experts are forecasting a 10-20% jump in prices. That is bad news for energy importing places like Nova Scotia.
Prices for gasoline, diesel and heating oil will jump right away
But for electricity prices…
More reason for nations to outgrow fossil fuels and move on to clean energy and electrification. As rogue petrostates like the United States increasingly throw their weight around, oil and gas dependence becomes riskier by the day.

If you are in Nova Scotia and are over 50, the health authority mails you a free test every two years. But fewer than half the people who receive the kits return them. It's a great program. Just do the test and mail it back.
