"In her masterwork, Ordinary Vices, she makes a compelling argument that crueltyβnot pride or envy or wrath or any of the other classic βdeadly sinsββis actually the worst human vice, and should be placed atop the list of things to avoid. βTo put cruelty first,β she writes, > is to disregard the idea of sin as it is understood by revealed religion. Sins are transgressions of a divine rule and offenses against God.β¦ However, crueltyβthe willful inflicting of physical pain on a weaker being in order to cause anguish and fearβis a wrong done entirely to another creature." Apropos to nothing at all in the world....here is some moral philosophy.
βWhat happened to me was a flagrant violation of my Constitutional rights.β
Patty OβKeefe was violently detained for legally observing ICE activity in her neighborhood. She deserves accountability from the DHS.
Very interesting to see them doubling down on this strategy.
We could have just turned off the wells and emptied the depots. But burning them down is one heck of a method.
Sorry kids no gasoline for Christmas this year.
New video footage shows a US Tomahawk missile hitting an IRGC facility in Minab, Iran, on Feb 28, showing for the first time that the US struck the area. The footage also shows smoke already rising from the vicinity of the girlsβ school, where 175 people were reportedly killed, including children.

Lots of "we're better than your spreadsheet" SaaS is in trouble.
So much of effective SaaS is someone who can properly model the data of a system, and build a UI and database on top of the state system. LLM driven development can do a lot of the second half of that if you can describe the system accurately.
I don't want to see an argument from the Dems that isn't "they are killing children, and think it is ok".

There's something deeply obscene and broken about the fact that Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth are bombing elementary schools in an illegal war of aggression, and there's still a sense among the opposition that it has to be explained in terms of gas prices in order to get American voters to care.
I'd believe it.
I see serious reporters discussing it. But as a veteran, it makes no sense.
Fast forces like Special Forces and Airborne are too small and light to be useful, big forces have big trucks and large quantities of people.

The logistical physics of "let's put boots on the ground in Iran" don't make any sense to me. The amount of work it takes to transport a large enough force to Iran with food, munitions, fuel, medical supplies, support troops, it takes months to put all of that in place half way around the world.
Horizon Zero Dawn was supposed to be a cautionary tale.
I'm in Enterprise software and honestly I so a lot of customers struggle to adopt the work that we put out monthly without AI assistance.

I've almost always been disappointed with AI doing writing for me, but have appreciated it for helping with market research and as a decent reviewer of docs I've written.
I impulse purchased a thing with a four or five week lead time to make it and deliver. Which is probably good for tempering impulses, but also, I want it now.
I would have just said, shut the refinery off, but no president Trump won't allow you to backslide, he hired a contractor to destroy it entirely.
We'll burn the bridges behind us on the way to a green energy future.
This is a very unconventional renewable energy transition strategy from the Trump administration.
This is an extremely foreseeable set of targets, we saw Iran supply the drones to Russia that have plagued Ukraine with continuous attacks against infrastructure for four years.
Ukraine has also attacked Russian oil infrastructure with drones to cut off their military and economic capacity.

Common Defense, a grassroots veterans organization, issued a statement condemning Senator Tim Sheehy for his physical assault on Marine veteran Brian McGinnis. The incident occurred during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing where McGinnis protested Sheehy's actions as a senator. The statement, attributed to Executive Director Jose Vasquez, emphasizes protecting constitutional rights and veterans' voices. The image includes the Common Defense logo.
The video is clear: Tim Sheehy broke a veteranβs arm to silence him.
Using force to suppress a constituent is a total disqualification for office.
We served to protect the right to speak out, not to see it assaulted by a politician in a suit.
No more excuses.
We know what it looks like when the infrastructure for care isnβt ready when those who fought the war come home.
We cannot let it happen again. Now is the time to be investing in the VA, not cutting jobs for providers and slashing the budget to pay for private jets and kickbacks on ad campaigns.

Trump/Hegseth operational security: at Joeβs Stone Crab, a restaurant a 2-minute walk from the White House, someone was having a conversation about the attacks on Iran that were going to start in 6 hours. Loud enough for the founder of @TMZ.com to recount it in real time with his podcast cohost.
It also feels like it runs against their ideas of strong domestic production which needs higher per barrel costs to be profitable?
Clearly they don't want to see the pump prices spike. But as I tell my kids, actions have consequences.
