Tears of the Kingdom and Rebirth are super close to being done! Elden Ring is also pretty close, but I think I'm missing just a few things on it. I'll do Zelda sometime this year, and then Rebirth next year

Everyone else playing RE: Requiem while I grind out the unfun postgame of Sons of Sparta
I'm not sure what's going on, but the Pit of Agonies gamemode in Sons of Sparta crashes consistently after becoming really laggy. I already got the platinum, so this is the only thing left to complete. Has anyone else played this enough to know if it's actually completable?
This game looks tight as hell and you should totally give it a try
Phil might represent the last of the "Iwata" generation of gaming executives, where they actually gave a damn about the companies they ran. With his departure, we're seeing the very last of a brilliant but imperfect generation of leaders in gaming. Without them, the future looks like Windows Copilot
Less competition is bad for everyone. We only got a better PS3 and an incredible PS4 because Microsoft put so much pressure on Sony. Game Pass forced all large publishers to re-evaluate the value of the subscriptions that all console gamers take for granted. We are all worse off without Xbox.
There have been a number of canaries in the coal mine of Xbox over the past several years, but this might just be the biggest warning. Microsoft has always wanted to undercut what made Xbox special and different, and Phil was always central to this effort.
Finished up Sons of Sparta, expect a Completionist episode on it soon. Has anyone else made their way through it yet? Curious of what everyone thinks of this one.
Still going
Ever wanted a Super Beard Bros Rubber duck? How about SBB Socks? Old prints for Completionist? Maybe you just want to hang out and steal the shirt off of my back? All of this and more awaits!

Displaying Team USA Olympic figure skater Ilia Malnin on a CRT brings out a lot of the artist-intended details that get lost with pure pixels, this is why so many of us retain vintage hardware

New video! It was the first week of January, and I wanted to get the Platinum in Anthem before it was delisted. I had no idea what to expect but the hunt was on, and I had 7 days to do it!
I just finished Anthem please god not another one
I did
As the industry tightens its belt to keep shareholders happy, the devs at the lowest rungs are the ones that get hit the hardest. It's this, or exiting public trading for private equity, usually Saudis now.
Turns out, the game has been made unavailable to purchase ahead of the shutdown. Physical copies still connect, but that clock is ticking hardcore
I'm going for the platinum before it dies. Wish me luck
If you know anyone who worked with BARB, especially prior to 2022, and they'd be willing to do an interview regarding their experiences, please reach out! If @gameworkers.co.uk could put me in touch with anyone, that would be very helpful as well.
In fairness, it is pretty bad, but in a boring way. There's so many stories here, but I'm not sure what kind of NDAs have restricted the devs from telling their stories more widely. I'm gonna do my best to put it all together for this next video.
I wanted to do a straightforward video on Mindseye, but the more I learned about its production and how the devs were treated, the more complicated things got. The story is so much worse than the game itself, and a lot of people only touched on that story in favor of "game bad".

This was a phenomenal video by @summoningsalt.bsky.social that examines the nuance of whether Speedrunning is dying. I feel like this change in trends can apply to the wider Youtube gaming sphere as a whole. Great work and impeccable research as always!
No but Cody Rhodes asked me to play it so I guess I have to
I know they've updated Mario Kart a few times to fix completion, but it doesn't fix how unrewarding completion is, and I'm just not interested in going back in when there's such a long list of games I haven't played from last year. That soundtrack was unbelievable though, there's no denying that.
Several games didn't make this list, but honorable mentions were Hades 2 and Mario Kart World. Hades 2 would've probably been there if I had the time to play it, but there were genuinely too many games this year, and I didn't have time!
On the other hand, Mario Kart World was unfun to complete.

Happy holidays everyone! It was a little bit in the making but new year, new list of best games! This has been one of the best years for new games in a long time, so picking ten was tough but a lot of fun. Hope you all enjoy!
I am incredibly devastated hearing about this. Lamarr was a wonderful person and a great creator, and I'm so sorry for his family, friends, and loved ones. I'm lucky to have known him, even very briefly.
Just beat Prime 4 today. Overall, it wasn't one of those "blow me away" kind of games but I genuinely liked a lot about it.
