A lot of BBC Radio advertising strategy feels like it’s been written by people who don’t listen to the radio.

1-0 to Charlton on the Valley score board at full time
3 points at the Valley vs a solid but uninspiring Birmingham City, plus your correspondent won the half-time jackpot draw (🎉): a good Saturday afternoon. #cafc
It was the Coventry postcode that made it for me.
Flag in the away end at the Valley that is a George Cross with a Stars and Stripes flag in one quadrant, Birmingham Cuty FC across the middle and a Coventry postcode in another quadrant
Flag of Confused Identity
It’s my pension provider taking that tone that really worries me: “Someone’s going to be living on baked beans and cheapmaxxing in their seventies, but that’s still cool 😎”
I completed my 250th Parkrun this morning. An actual life achievement! Speech to follow.
There’s the new Deutsche Bourse show opening at Photographers’ Gallery soon, too. That might be…good? It is, sometimes, at least.
(No photo of the Nan Goldin exhibition as it was forbidden and I Do What I’m Told, mostly)

There are currently FOUR very good photographic shows on in London’s Swanky Mayfair™️:
- Gordon Parks at Alison Jacques
- Bernd and Hilla Becher at Spruth & Magers
- Richard Avedon at Gagosian
- Nan Goldin at Gagosian, Davies St.
All for free. These are, relatively speaking, good times, photo-wise.
The blue JM Vintera II w/gold pickguard was very nice indeed, but my claim to needing one is very, very thin.
Let’s buy a #guitars
Having a Kernel Table Beer in the Covent Garden Craft Beer Co, where the staff are doing a sterling job explaining cask ale to overseas tourists.
Two sheets of Demis Roussos stickers. The first design shows him mid song, pointing towards us. He wears a black kaftan with a floral gold embroidered design. The second shows him looking over his shoulder at us. Again, a black top but with a mostly lilac design.
Working on a new sticker set.
Liverpool - Nov 2018
Two pints of beer seen through the window a pub, looking out.
Had not really considered ‘lengthy period of rainfall’ in my day off plans, but never mind.
All killer, no filler
East Greenwich gasholder by Bernd and Hilla Becher
A winding tower photo above a fireplace
Two German gas holders
Five concrete water towers
I also went to the Bernd and Hilla Becher show at Spruth & Magers (another free one). An opportunity to see the late, lamented East Greenwich gasholder again!

Police Brutality Must Go, and You Must Go (to this exhibition, I reckon).

‘Gordon Parks: We Shall Not Be Moved’ at Alison Jacques gallery on Cork Street is 🔥fantastic🔥 and also free. Just opened and on until mid-April, I feel strongly that you should go and see it.
Your mate’s old school friend that you’ve only met a couple of times and instinctively distrust.
Instagram advert for ‘Carl Trousers’
Alright, Carl Trousers? How’s it going?
My commiserations to all laptop operators and desk jockeys today.
Charlton Lido under a grey sky
Got the day off work, haven’t I?
SAMPLE SIZE TOO SMALL
Amused by County Durham’s low attachment rating vs the rest of the NE. I can’t put my finger on why it makes sense to me, but it absolutely does.
God, yeah. “All the strings are the same volume and sound like they’re on the same guitar. I can play beyond the 3rd fret?!”
When I was 18 my mate ‘turned pro’ and bought a J200. I can still remember the feeling of trying it out and how it sounded compared to all the acoustic guitars we’d had before then.
Just had a quick pint outside the George IV pub by the LSE, like a RADICAL STUDENT.
I would very much like to see the Glenn Jones who plays solo acoustic guitar live one day.
Gibson J-150 i bought new ~2002. Cheaper version of the J200.
