A screenshot of a still from the American tv comedy series βWhoβs line is it anywayβ. The still is in two halves: the top and the bottom. The top is a still of male presenter Drew Carey, sitting behind a table with the audience in the background holding a piece of card: the text over the top half of the still says: βThings to say that will always start a fight.β The bottom half of the still shows the American comedian Ryan Stiles standing in front of a purple and blue backdrop. The text over the top says: βEverybody deserves food and shelter before anybody deserves rental properties or yachts. β

Write a fantasy or sci-fi with a protagonist that white women can easily identify with (read: self-insert). Make the villain SUPER obvious with vague hints of allegory so the "book girlies" can feel like rebels, but don't get too real or they might be uncomfortable. Also give her hot boyfriends.

I still have so many notebooks from college for this exact reason. π

THE BOOK OF THE UNNAMED MIDWIFE by @megelison.bsky.social.
What a wonderful novel. Follows a midwife wandering a post-plague America secretly supplying birth control to outnumbered, enslaved women. Humane & complicated & messy & dire & inspiring. And, wow, TIMELY.
