idk how hot of a take this is but I think becoming a gundam fan and watching almost all of the main gundam works has fully radicalized me against the mindset that you must experience all of the works in a large franchise.

My impression was that A Contact is a compilation film of the show while Be Invoked is an alternate/expanded version of the ending so I was only going to watch the latter. Is that not the case?

The Ideon gauge.

The Ideon Gauge is a great design element though. It perfectly fits the ancient cryptic vibe.

I don't blame the creators for this bc I'm sure the sponsor had lots of mandates about the main mecha design but I wish the Ideon parts looked more ancient and mysterious, instead of looking like firetruck tanks. I like the humanoid form fine enough but this just doesn't fit the story context imo

In an era where so many game devs looked at the design of the wiimote and tried to integrate motion controls into their games, it seems like the main thing the Rhythm Heaven devs got from it was "if you press the A and B buttons at the same time it's kinda like you're pinching or grabbing something"

I'm remembering one reason I fell off of Ideon the first time is it felt like it was taking forever to get going. Episode 4 is called "Escape from Planet Solo" but then in the next episode they immediately go back to Planet Solo. And by the end of ep 6 where I left off, they're still on Planet Solo

Ideon is lying splayed out on the ground like an idiot. The Buff Clan is attacking and bro is literally sleepy rn or smth.

Though it's really weird that this is the first one without the November Rain lines on the background. I'd almost be inclined to believe that that was an intentional stylistic choice to distinguish this volume if it contained the beginning of act 2, but it doesn't. This ends at the end of act 1
