The BBC is currently interviewing a professor of misinformation. But how do we know he really is?

For years I’ve been using a really good, free, app to collate all my recipes. This morning they’ve decided they will start charging a monthly subscription. It seems everyone is on the make.

I was asked when tiramisu was invented. I confidently replied ‘late 13th century?’ I couldn’t have been more wrong. 1960. I feel cheated. I have older underwear.

The OU is a fantastic organisation. It gave my old mum, who was forced to leave school at 16, the opportunity to undertake a degree. It’s a very tough method of gaining a qualification and anyone who goes down that route has my respect.

The price for camera use has jumped again at my local archives. It’s now £29.90 and is the second highest I have experienced. The only good thing is that Beds has a cap whereas another local archive charges over £1 per photo with no upper limit.

You are conflating two separate issues. Under international law we are allowed to act in self-defence, so if bases are attacked the UK can defend itself. We’re not doing that, we are allowing the US to use our bases, and thereby supporting a legally suspect American and Israeli attack.

Utterly incoherent. If you helped someone committing a criminal act you’d be charged as an accessory. Whatever your views of Iran, if Trump’s actions are illegal under international law because the US wasn’t facing an immediate attack from Iran, we should have nothing to do with this mess.

I thought the WMD had been obliterated and anyone who said otherwise was peddling fake news. I don’t want to trivialise it, but it’s starting to look like another Epstein distraction tactic. The rest of NATO needs to keep well away.

Agree. Anyone who’s ever known someone with Tourette’s would realise that the utterance is separated from the utterer and is not a reflection of his views. Any ire should be directed at the BBC for not managing the incident, and the fake outrage of some towards the unfortunate man turns my stomach.

Wait until you get to the death of Augustus, it’s extraordinary. Brian Blessed is superb and much underrated.

Frustrating to read an old paper to find that I have repeated a phrase in the conclusion, I assume from when I was editing and moving sentences around. It’s amazing it got through the peer review process but perhaps they thought I had done it for emphasis.

It’s not often that a film lives up to the book. I’ve just watched The Life of Chuck and it was wonderful. A very clever story.

I work with very large databases but the likelihood of me using AI is lower than the chance of seeing me do my weekly shop wearing a top hat, a nappy and a pair of spats. Accept nothing, believe nothing, challenge everything.

On the news tonight I learned about the prisoner booking in process, DNA samples, the caution and what will be in Peter Mandelson’s cell. Amazingly, it’s not changed a bit since Andrew Mountbatten Windsor was arrested last week.

We’ve tried it once and it didn’t work well. I’d rather have Charles as Head of State than someone like Farage. It’s not perfect but I have yet to see a better model.

Oh Leeds, Leeds, Leeds. Before the game I’d have bitten your hand off for a point at Villa, but yet again you leave me frustrated by conceding a last minute goal.

Oh Theakston’s, how can a brewery that produces the best beer on the planet (Old Peculier), also produce the worst? It’s been 20 minutes and I still have an overpowering aftertaste of bitter burnt toffee. Ugh! I suppose it’s designed to cater for the yoof.

I’d rather it was discovered outside of the US. I can see it being banned by RFK based on some whacky distortion of the science.

I’ve been binging on Michael Woods’ old documentaries. Once you get past the dated background music I had forgotten just how good they are. I don’t think I’ve seen a TV historian to match him. Perhaps because he doesn’t dumb things down to the lowest common denominator.

Nottingham Forest sack Sean Dyche - their third managerial departure this season The 54-year-old leaves the club sitting 17th in the Premier League, just three points above the relegation zone.

news.sky.com/story/nottin... - Who’d be a manager, especially at this club? Can you imagine, in any other field of work, getting sacked after a fortnight, a month or 4 months, as the last 3 incumbents have? Only those with a death wish need apply for the vacancy. The pernicious influence of money.

Meanwhile in Monaco a small-minded racist is complaining how the principality is being colonised by foreign tax-dodgers. I find it amazing that Ratcliffe thinks that being rich adds weight to his opinions.

I’m not a Keir Starmer fan, but I just cannot see the current Mandelson/Epstein mess as a resigning matter. Post-Brexit we need stability, but we’ve had so many PMs in the last few years it is ridiculous. Our global standing slips by the day and we seem intent on committing political suicide.

Watching the luge on the Olympics and Mrs S asks if I’d like to give it a try. Little does she know that I when I was 12 I was an expert, weaving downhill through the trees at Beckett’s Park in the days it snowed every February half term.

We’ve a local pub that claims it was established in 1731 - in fact the date is painted above the entrance. Today I was looking at something unrelated and found a will dating to 1725 in which the pub was a bequest, pushing back its origin 6 years. I wonder if I’ll qualify for free beer for life.
