Shoutout to VOICE on that one, theyβve spent the last few years really digging into why already-approved AH isnβt getting built and how to fix that

Housing asks for the budget are in your inbox
We never make out own budget asks, bc most supply reforms are free. instead we coordinate to lift up the asks of our partners who focus more on things like vouchers, funding AH, etc
Coordination this year with TWU, VOICE, NVAHA, Grassroots, & ACT
I just watched it last week! Excellent
life lately really has me scheduling an email to go out on a Saturday morning π
that sounds awesome. it will take me 5 years to read but officially on my TBR
googling i also saw the author was "named "one of the nation's most influential and imaginative college professors" by Playboy Magazine" lol
Right, and I see one of the bodies visibly trying to do that
IIRC this is also downstream of the fact that council wanted to have someone sitting in on those CBA negotiations, and SB/ACPS said no
The city tried to ensure communication. The schools said βno, but donβt worry we will keep you informedβ then didnβt do that
me reading this
not the housing part, the part where i get to say 'actually i am under 35' (for a few more months)
is that reputation in the room with us jesse
And the surprise βwe all agreed not to talk more about DASH busesβ
The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas
Itβs a buddy comedy about 4 dumb jocks traipsing around France ruining other peopleβs lives with the power of friendships & swords!
Took a bit to get into it but really enjoyed it in the end.
Hot take: between this and Monte Cristo I think this Dumas guy might be the real deal
Quietly leveling up until itβs too late and the general assembly realizes theyβve accidentally ended the Dillon rule (but only for us)
Ok nerd
My βif nerdβ held up well here π€
Oh good one
π€ i might use it but yeah I wouldnβt be surprised if it needed explanation
Define normal and casual
But yes sure, if youβre a history or sci-fi or military nerd
really leaning on that tornado alley fascist recruitment pipeline
Not to make light of something that's serious and important, but for the record here's another "Alexandria is Parks & Rec" entry:
ah, missed that it did get a yes vote from 1 Republican actually: Sen. Travis Hackworth
IMO a land value tax also has so many implications beyond housing it'd probably be best discussed on its own merit, rather than as part of a housing or zoning-focused package.
to me zoning should be part of an LVT discussion, rather than LVT being part of a zoning discussion
Died 17-22
EBP voted for it, consistent with her vote in the house and statement in our candidate questionnaire
4 Dems who crossed over to join republicans in their opposition included Senators Aird, Locke, Lucas, & Perry
Sen Rouse didnβt vote
ope
Surely this is intended as "Ale x Sucks," a commentary on the relative quality of lagers and ales
idk that alx yimbys have a position on it but interested individuals could raise LVT as something to explore during the 3/9 and 3/14 budget hearings
too late this year, but could put it in the city's 2027 legislative package if people pushed for it / council agreed.
given ongoing budget issues seems worth looking at. If it went into the leg package i assume EBP, McPike, etc would be happy to carry it
MISSING! My 80yo neighbor Virginia βGinnyβ Richards last seen today (March 5) at 4am. Please call 703-746-4444 if you see her. Providing a better, updated photo here.
Not the point but the Dillon rule is so weird. If youβre gonna let some localities do this just let them all
Falls Church, Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, and Newport News all about to get the authority to do a land value tax π
