An aged wooden building is surrounded by dried foliage and some evergreen trees and sits under a bright blue sky. The gardens that were left for insects to overwinter in weren’t cleaned up in the fall but it looks like we can start that work soon.

Good morning

Willows looming large over the pond at the Old Rectory, Yelling, Huntingdonshire. This started off with watercolour and acrylic ink and then oil pastels became useful to heighten some of the greenery in this fairly gloomy scene.

The subject of this mixed media painting from 2015 is the pond in the grounds of the Old Rectory, Yelling (a curiously named village). I enjoyed sitting there working on this. A couple of moorhens can be seen swimming around sketched in on the far side.

Happy Tuesday! It was overcast today so here is another photo from yesterday's stellar sunrise, this one taken about 10 minutes before the sun broke the horizon. Tap for full size. I hope you have a great day!

A view of the majestic Grand Tetons from the Snake River overlook. The jagged mountains are glowing pink from a sunrise. I got my ass up 4 days in a row at 0 dark:30 for this pic and am still not pleased there were no clouds in the sky. Other days there was nothing but clouds obscuring the view. The best thing about getting up that early in a national park is all the wildlife you see at that time of day. That was magical for 4 days. This park is overshadowed by Yellowstone which is a mere hour north, but I personally enjoyed it far more. Floated down the Snake River one day and that was simply glorious.
