Pretty ridiculous headline by the AP. Calling Bernard Lafayette a “voting rights organizer” is like calling George Washington a “troop movement coordinator” or Abraham Lincoln a “federal government administrator.”

One of the greats. We learn in school that the Founding Fathers were men of the 18th century. The founders were also men and women of the Reconstruction and Civil Rights eras. And this founding father put his life on the line time and again to build and improve this democracy. A true giant.
And in this context meant simply to refute the idea that it’s unusual that a liberal Senator’s donors base includes many Jewish donors. That is neither unusual nor suggestive of some dark conspiracy to wrangle his support for the war in Iran.
It’s perfectly normal for historians and social scientists to note the voting and political trends they ethno-cultural groups exhibit. It’s not putting people in a box; it’s simple data analytics.
It would be odd if he *didn’t* have a lot of Jewish bundles and donors. American Jews are a rock solid part of the Democratic coalition. Because they are one of the most liberal ethno-religious groups in the country.
He’s a combat veteran. He probably believes that he should vote to fund resources for troops who’ve been sent to war, even if he thinks the war is pointless or ill-considered. There is no vast Jewish or Zionist conspiracy controlling events.
You do understand that American Jews are the country’s most solidly Democratic ethno-religious group? They vote, contribute to and bundle for Dems in large numbers. Your argument appears to be that Gallego is a puppet and Jewish donors pull the strings.
Did I miss the Amnesty, UN, or Red Cross campaign condemning the missile attacks on Israeli civilians?
No urgent statements about synagogue or homes being off-limits? No reminder that murder isn't self-defense?
Or is that all negotiable when the victims are Jews?
To folks supporting and promoting Graham Platner: would you support a candidate who openly wears a Klan hood and robe and makes guest appearances on white supremacist podcasts? Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I assume not. So why him? The key takeaway seems: "Eat it, Jewish Dems, and shut up."
And then there is the little matter of the Nazi tat. But let’s not hold “progressives” to the same standard we hold MAGA.
I occasionally check my old account on the other site just to see what’s going on. Morbid curiosity, rubber-necking. Guess what? It’s rife with antisemitic trash. Guess where it’s coming from? Not the MAGA right. 99% of it is from the “progressives.” With friends like that…
Paramount should enjoy its growing news monopoly while they have it because when Democrats win back power we are going to break up these anti-democratic information conglomerates. All of them.
This one isn’t even tough. When officers walk into a large, pre-planned snowball fight and get pelted with snowballs, then want to arrest & jail people throwing snowballs, they present as entitled, and too fragile to be entrusted with public safety. What did they think happens at snowball fights?
NYCPD has long been its own worst enemy. Too many officers behaving violently and lawlessly. Many liberal New Yorkers likely agree with the brass on the usefulness of broken windows policing and gang crackdowns. At the same time, they expect the police to answer to civilian elected officials.
It took a certain kind of stupid for the House GOP to think compelling Hillary Clinton to testify would help, not hurt. A party rife with sex predators, pedophiles and dimwits was going to outsmart one of the smartest people in public life? When it’s Wile E Cayote v the anvil, bet on the anvil.
Thou must not question the sincerity of self-styled progressives, even those who have Nazi tats, claim not to have known they commissioned, paid for, and bear Nazi tats, but simultaneously maintain they have the requisite intelligence, judgement and moral qualifications to serve in the U.S. Senate.
AntiZionism is Jew-hate designed to make everyday life everywhere unsafe for Jews
“Zionism is nothing more than supporting the Jewish people’s right to exist in a country of their own —like 57 Muslim countries & countless Christian countries. Many Zionists, like myself, also support the Palestinians’ right for self-determination.”

#AntiZionism = #JewHate
The very corrupt Democrats want summer all year long. Not gonna happen. We love our American snow. It’s the best snow. Many people are saying it. We don’t need any of that socialist DEI snow. We need strong snow. Bobby and Pete love shoveling snow before taking a sauna. Where’s Bobby?
People call me — strong people, tough people — and they say, “Sir, there’s so much beautiful snow, we’re exhausted from all the winning.” And I say, just wait until we annex Greenland and make Canada the 51st state. You haven’t seen snow yet.
We’ve had more snow this week than any president in history. Nobody’s ever seen snow like this. Beautiful snow. We love to say the word snow, don’t we? It’s covering the sidewalks, closing the schools, tremendous traffic — really incredible.
Under Sleepy Joe? No snow. Very low-energy weather. Sad.
Works for me!
When Joe Biden was president, it didn’t snow every day. It didn’t snow and leave 3” right after you finished shoveling the last batch. There’s cause, then there’s correlation, I know. Just saying.
No AI instrument can replace what one didn’t learn (by not taking) Phil Weinstein’s comp modern lit seminar or Betsy Bolton’s seminar in gothic lit.
WSJ pundit tries to defend a man who is credibly accused of sexually assaulting children but gets all the details wrong. Because why let facts get in the way of a tart headline? Very on brand.
And not to split hairs, he was arrested for sharing government information & email deliberations with Epstein while serving in a British government role. He shared classified information and finally paid the price. Nice try for the right-wing “the censorious liberals are dangerous!” crowd. But no.
“I heard the officer say ‘that ain’t shit’.”
NASHVILLE — ICE shatter a car window in front of a newborn, refuse to look at man’s license & work visa… drag him out of his car, hit him, mock him for being Guatemalan (he’s from Mexico), laugh when he begs to say goodbye.
Elon Musk responding “Precisely” to an image asking why people aren’t protesting Epstein, saying “Because the people who pay for protests would be the ones getting protested."
Antisemitism is structurally necessary for Elon Musk’s right-wing populist politics, because he wants to brand himself as a populist insurgent against the “elites,” but as the world’s wealthiest person, he needs a definition of elite not rooted in actual material wealth.
Flying is not a constitutional right.
Drinking beer is not a constitutional right.
One does not always need to provide an ID to buy beer (I’m rarely carded).
And neither flying nor drinking require the onerous proof of citizenship that the SAVE Act demands to exercise a constitutional right.
Two points:
*Neither getting on a plan, nor buying beer is a constitutional right
*You don't need to prove citizenship to buy a beer or get on a plane - that is what the SAVE Act calls for, which will clearly disenfranchise lots of people
Kash Patel in 2023: “I’m just saying Chris Wray doesn’t need a government funded G5 jet to go to vacations. Maybe we ground that plane. $15,000 every time it takes off. Just a thought.”
