This registered report on the burning houses replication is now finally out in Cortex. One of few registered reports in neuropsychology, this project was accepted at stage 1 just before the pandemic and is now finally out.
Commentary on the process to follow :)

Key recommendations for sharing information with memory clinic patients:
- Ask about needs and preferences, and re-assess over time
- Tailor information to the patient (e.g., test results, diagnosis, prognosis)
- Provide jargon-free communication in verbal and visual form

I have pretty much conditioned my teens so one of them usually comes supermarket shopping. If they come, they pick the snacks (whenever I go shopping without them, the snack cupboard remains quite bare!). Food is an excellent motivator/reward. Behaviourists have known for a long time πŸ˜‰

Lesion mapping in neuropsychological research: A practical and conceptual guide

N=33 is a very small sample for lesion mapping, with questionable statistical validity, particularly in such a low diversity (lesion wise) sample as well. We wrote a guide expanding on this and other issues in VLSM here if anyone interested in reading more: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Just because you don’t understand someone’s job doesn’t mean it’s bullshit, and it doesn’t mean it’s going to lead to the downfall of civilisation. For sure, some things can be done better. For sure, there are problems in our universities. But this isn’t how we address it. 3/

Thanks for providing some pushback and critical engagement. It's easy to get annoyed at 'extra admin' work, and the amount of reposts show the wider frustration of academics. However, extending this frustration with admin burdens to calling for a culling of 'bullshit jobs' is an astounding leap.

Achromatopsia poster. It shows a drawing of glasses. In one lens you can see letters in all colours. In the other lens, the same letters are in black and white. At the bottom there are come colouring pencils. A cartoon character is pointing to the yellow pencil and says 'what colour is this?' another character is saying 'yellow'. At the top is a post-it note that says '22% of stroke survivors will have some form of achromatopsia'. The main text reads: "This refers to a difficulty recognising or perceiving colour. The world can appear in shades of grey, or just look more dull. This can make it hard to tell the difference between similar shades of colours such as yellow and green. Difficulties can be restricted to either the left or right side of vision, or can cover both sides. There is no cure for achromatopsia, but managing its symptoms can look like: asking others to point out the colours of things, wearing tinted lenses to help with light sensitivity, using technology like apps to identify colour"
