Living off grid (not in a crazy way) in the beautiful Bunya Mountains in SE Qld on Wakka Wakka country in Australia. #VoteYes Alt Text for background image. Five Red Neck Wallabies graze on green grass near rainforest and gum trees
Six frames. Woman talking to girl. 1. “Sunday was International Women’s Day - the one day of the year when women get to…” (girl looks excited) 2. “…be controlling and violent toward their partners,…” (girl looks less thrilled) 3. “…tell men what to wear and what they can do with their bodies,…” (girl looks a bit stunned) 4. “…make men feel unsafe and blame them if they get attacked,…” (girl looks uncomfortable) 5. “…and curtail men’s liberty and make laws that serve our own interests.” (Girl looks depressed) 6. “Because men deserve a day off.” (Girl looks seriously unconvinced.)

Single frame. Karoline Leavitt on the press briefing lectern with a US flag and a large “chocolate wheel” with coloured panels showing: “REGIME CHANGE -YAY!; THEY’RE TERRORISTS!; THEY HAVE NUKES!; THEY DOT HAVE NUKES YET; WE WANT TO REPLACE THE LEADER; WE KILLED THE REPLACEMENTS; ARMAGEDDON!!!; PRE-EMPTIVE SELF-DEFENCE; BIBI IS OUR FRIEND; (SOME SCHOOLGIRLS MAY HAVE DIED); WHAT OIL?!; MID-TERMS - YIKES!” Leavitt says, “Next question?”
Spin.
My @smh cartoon.
Single frame. Trump at whiteboard with pointer. A line of backs of heads of various world leaders. (Macron Carney Albo Starmer Merz Von der Leyen). Written on whiteboard: “INTERNATIONAL RULES-BASED ORDER. 1. I RULE. 2. I ORDER THE REST OF THE WORLD AROUND.
Rules-based order.
My @smh cartoon.
Cut-price Costello Tim Wilson on Sky just now: "It’s very clear to me that when there’s an increase in petrol prices, Jim Chalmers collects more excise revenue."
Excise is not based on price changes. It's indexed twice a year in line with inflation.
Cutie!

Political monogamy? These are louche days now where fringe parties look more interesting, and they probably feel more interested, too.
I feel like we’ve seen this movie before….
👏 👏
Happy with this effort. No bonus though

Title: Vetting the ISIS brides. Two frames. 1. Man with clipboard inside entrance of tent talking to woman in full burqa nursing baby with two small kids playing beside on the dirt floor. Man says: “Just a few questions…Are you: bigoted? Lacking compassion? Have you scant regard for due process and the presumption of innocence?” 2. Same scene, man continues: “If ‘yes’ to all those, you satisfy the “Australian values” test as demonstrated by our political class, and we look forward to bringing you home.”
Vetting the brides.
My @smh @theage cartoon.
Two vignettes. 1. Isaac Herzog, President of Israel, with quote: “Now is not the time to recognise a Palestinian state.” 2. Bezalel Smotrich, Israel’s Finance Minister, with quote (preceded by my words “…not while…”), “We’re deepening our roots in all parts of the land of Israel and burying the idea of a Palestinian state.”
Now?
My @smh cartoon.
Honestly, if Sussan Ley was as punk as she claims, she wouldn't quit politics. She'd run as an independent and give her former party hell on climate change.
Two frames. 1. Lib Party Room, members huddled around table, one says “We have no policies, no principles, no vision, no credibility, no gravitas, no consistency, no popular appeal…” 2. Same scene, another says, “You’re right - Angus Taylor is the leader who best represents us.”
If the cap fits.
My @smh @theage cartoon.
Political recidivism. Women and younger voters abandoned the party in droves at last year’s election. Tearing down their first female leader after less than a year, is their considered response? And for what detailed program? Vague boilerplate rhetoric? Fact is, the boys want their party back.
Action packed!
We knew from the moment we heard it that “social cohesion” would be one of those Orwellian terms which would be used to cover all manner of state sanctioned abuse and deprivation of civic freedoms.
It fuels the very unrest it pretends to seek to quell.
Very sad to share the news of this legend of Australian political cartooning, and art. Dear Jon Kudelka has died, and we will be the poorer and more dull for his passing.
Sending love and condolences to his family.
What a legacy of scorching wit and joyful capturing of life he leaves.
Jon Kudelka cartoon. Julia Gillard is turning off the Light On The Hill and saying ‘it was attracting the boats’
Remembering Job Kudelka, his greatest one line single panel
Nicely done! If I had read the bonus bit I should have worked it out!

Breathtaking.
Two frames. 1. Customs and Border Protection agent with suitcase open holding two pieces of paper, says to man opposite, “President Herzog, we note there’s a photo of you here signing a bomb meant for Gazans, as well as a UN accusation of incitement to genocide…” 2. Same scene but agent is handing closed suitcase to the man saying “Welcome to Australia and enjoy your stay.”
Here we are.

If Jeff Bezos could afford to spend $75 million on the Melania movie & $500 million for a yacht to sail off to his $55 million wedding to give his wife a $5 million ring, please don't tell me he needed to fire one-third of the Washington Post staff.
Democracy dies in oligarchy.
Last year, for the first time, alcohol and gambling companies, and their lobby groups, donated more than $5m to the major parties. Looks like they are getting a reasonable return on their investment.
Single frame. Title: “[redacted]” A line of early teen? girls looking at the viewer. Behind them, silhouettes of four generic men, some with hand on shoulders of the girls, which have been through six iterations of redaction to satisfy the newspaper’s lawyers that none are identifiable.
A heavily redacted cartoon.
My @smh cartoon.
Two frames. Title: “The difference between Pauline Hanson:” Frame 1. “then…” shows old fashioned tv with Hanson saying “if you’re seeing me now, I have been murdered…” caption “wacky far-right populist”. Frame 2. “…and now” shows huge loot bag with Pauline on top reclining in red stilettos and turquoise suit, beside her Barnaby and Cory Bernardi. On the bag, “via Mar-a-Lago” sticker, “I heart MAGA”, messages “Flood the zone, xx Steve” and “love Gina xxx” messages. Caption “wacky far-right populist with a power-hungry entourage + money.”
The difference.
