"...but it was already too late. Even experienced political technicians like Jenni Byrne could not have prevented the ensuing reaction. The mass of defections had gone supercritical; with no chance of new leadership, the party had begun digesting itself, shedding MPs at an ever-increasing rate."

So #Trump boasts that the U.S. navy blew up a boat in the Caribbean, killing 11 people, claiming they were Venezuelan drug runners. And posts a snuff video of the event online. No investigation, no trial, no due process. And we're just supposed to believe him? And let him get away with it?

Okay, awesome! A sometime member of the Orpheus community over the past 30+ years, can we celebrate why this is happening, and why here, and in this way? Orpheus is an important cultural institution in Toronto - but is there more going on here than what seems like a puff piece?

Two workers install a street sign by affixing it to a metal pole. One, wearing an orange shirt with a grey X across the back, holds a cordless drill. The other, standing on a yellow ladder, reaches over the street sign to hold it in place. The sign says: “Orpheus Choir Lane.”
Yesterday I joined many choral nerd friends to celebrate the naming of Orpheus Choir Lane near Bloor & Bathurst in #Toronto. Choral #music matters! The arts matter! Make a point of #singing every day even if it’s just in the shower.

Verb Your Enthusiasm
I recall the first time it circumstanced,
this problem that routines with my words –
I was in the kitchen, plating my food,
when my nouns conversioned to verbs.
Friending others with similar troubles,
we workshopped hard at it for days,
as we dialogued in search of solutions,
and flipcharted the hours away.
I can’t stop myself languaging weirdly.
Are they called nerbs or vouns? I’m not sure.
The doctors cannot antidote me,
while to poem provisions no cure.
Now I diarise each time they’re eventing –
whenever I coffee or Youtube or gift.
I’d podium, too – if I ever won anything,
and it weren’t for those medalling kids.
Brian Bilston
I’ve been poeming about how my nouns keep conversioning to verbs.

Don't get discouraged! Poilievre inflates his crowd sizes tenfold (1,000%). But also don't be complacent; polls can be *wrong*. The only way we avoid fascism is by v o t i n g. Don't split the anti-Con vote! @laura-babcock.bsky.social

I just want to tip my hat to the crack team of White House economists who were able to discover--in just a few short days--that the U.S. is dependent on China for smartphones, computers and semiconductors.

Why Pierre Poilievre has suddenly gone silent on defunding the CBC
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has not mentioned his promise to gut the CBC at any of his press conferences or policy announcements since the election campaign started.
Pierre Poilievre’s plan to shut down our public broadcaster is now so unpopular, he’s afraid to talk about it!
Keep spreading the word about why we must stop his attempt to shut down the CBC. Encourage friends and family to join us: forwardcanada.ca/protectcbc
