At the top of the image is black text on a cream background that says: This 1 March, We Remember Nuclear Victims Remembrance Day. Below the text is a photograph of the Runit Dome in Marshall Islands which is a repository for atomic waste that the U.S. produced during Cold War weapons testing. Below the photos the black text on cream reads: Nuclear Violence Has No Expiry Date. On 1 March we mark Nuclear Victims Remembrance Day (NVRD). The 1954 Castle Bravo test at Bikini Atoll didn't end in 1954. For the Marshallese people, the fallout - displacement, illness, contamination - continues today. NVRD is now observed by affected communities across Oceania and globally, a growing chorus of voices demanding accountability, truth, and justice for nuclear-affected peoples everywhere.

New Report: Nuclear testing from decades ago continues … Norwegian People's Aid new report, is the work of years, involving many expert voices, including direct experiences of the harms of nuclear weapons "testing".

"Is it Safe?" puts affected communities at the centre of the nuclear testing debate. Karina Lester's words on the British tests on Aboriginal land are devastating: "black smoke, silently, oily, toxic… leaving its poison for generations to come."

Black text on cream and blue background that reads

5 Year Anniversary. Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons Entered into Force.

On 22 January 2021, the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, the first multilateral treaty to categorically ban nuclear weapons, became international law, prohibiting their development, production, possession, use, and threat of use.

The Treaty also obliges States Parties to provide assistance for victims of nuclear weapons and for environmental remediation.

For the first time in history, nuclear weapons were placed in the same category as chemical and biological weapons: forbidden under international law

This treaty was born from decades of global civil society activism, a recognition that nuclear weapons are inherently immoral, pose catastrophic humanitarian risk, and must have no place in our world.

George Orwell wrote the paradoxical slogan "War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength." (In the novel 1984)

As we watch US Pres Trump attempt to suck world leaders into his "Board of Peace" we are reminded that totalitarian control manipulates truth and creates unity through hatred.
