gen 2 pokemon (and gen 1/3 on top of that) in a brand new region

It was certainly a nightmare in the money department but honestly, the fact that in the end they all connect with each other just makes the experience in this gen all the more personal.

Thank you for listening to me gush on both-

You had RSE bring new stuff to the table with new Pokemon and region and new content with secret bases and the battle frontier/
You have FRLG re-introduce the old Pokemon while bringing it new life with new content with the sevii islands
And you have Colo / XD with re-introducing even more-

You didn't have kids into that phase (or if you did it was *rare*) nor was the internet available for Pokemon yet. You just had yourself and a few games to keep yourself content. But what the games offered, I think they did a good job fufilling that.

Gen 3 to me honestly feels the most personal generation to them all. Considering at the time the old generation was out of their phase and the new was going to start theirs with DP and beyond, Gen 3 was in this weird spot where you just really had yourself. At least to a lonely kid like me.

Like the whole Sevii Island storyline culminates into bringing the old generation (Gen 1) and connecting it with the new generation (Gen 3) while getting to that point requires going through the one that bridges between the two (Gen 2)

And to me that just makes me incredibly giddy inside :)

I had this opinion on gen 3 for a while but I always thought that out of all the gens, it was the perfect blend of bridging 3 gens together.
