there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for

some sanity in an insane world
this would be funny if not for the 150+ young girls Claude chose to bomb and kill at school for the USA.
The US and Israel have bombed at least 13 hospitals and health facilities in Iran and one in Lebanon.
alexschottenpoetry β’ & Threads 6h It would be really poetic if the cure to militarized Al is just painting decoys on the ground [picture of decoy on ground] ISRAELI MISSILE HITS HELICOPTER SHADOW DECOY ISRAELI MISSILE HITS HELICOPTER SHADOW DECOY AFTER IRANIAN GROUND ILLUSION TRICKS STRIKE
the LLMs can be defeated by POETRY, its only fair the ai can be defeated by ART
I wrote about how the US and Israel carried out an attack on an Iranian girls school on par with the OKC bombing and US media relegated it to a back page story. No stand alone evening news segments, no front page stories, it made A11 in the NYT then everyone moved on.
The girlsβ school in Iran, where 165 people were killed by an apparent US-Israeli attack, was hit with two strikes, with the second missile killing sheltering survivors, two first responders and the parent of a slain child have told Middle East Eye.
ahh the dinosaurs are fantastic :'D (and yes, she is very sweet, cuddly, affectionate, bitey and smarter than me some of the time), but she is loud! Does cucumber make a lot of noise? How's it like, having a Senegal? more independent or similar to a quaker? I mean individual birbs are diff ofc <3

"Make people dependent enough, and then make it shitty"
Still giggling at this hilarious video from the Norwegian Consumer Council "A Day in the Life of an Ensh*ttificator" which seems a perfect embodiment of Silicon Valley and tech generally these days

i love how your art is almost always a story or stories.... especially now that ao3 is down again, this is particularly lovely to see π
Every progressive over ~30 is dealing with massive, MASSIVE Iraq and Afghanistan (imperialistic) (invasions) War gaslighting and fatigue right now... along with the horror of yet more blood on our hands.
Some of us were always against this shit. Some of us protested it. And... here we go again. π€¬
these people should all hang
well we did kidnap one just a few weeks ago, feels likes years ago...
Americans do not want this. They do not want another war in pursuit of regime change. They want relief from the affordability crisis. They want peace.
Literally the only statement from an elected official Iβve read this morning worth our time. @schumer.senate.gov @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social @sanders.senate.gov take note!!
Thank you @mayor.nyc.gov @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social

Todayβs military strikes on Iran β carried out by the United States and Israel β mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression. Bombing cities. Killing civilians. Opening a new theater of war.
watching two Cooper's Hawks perched in a tree right outside my window tear apart a bird they caught, viscera, bones stretched, feathers flying. Thinking about Israel and the US starting a war with Iran and the children killed in that school strike. Not to eat, not get oil, but all for territory.
i do, but ultimately it doesn't matter, the lives that are lost are lost, the interests served are corrupt and evil. it needs to be opposed on all grounds. we have to fight this, no matter which evil motive drives them more/less.
My other question would be, are you old enough to remember the way the media let Republicans steal the 2000 (not 2020, 2000!) election? Because controlled media like that is... unbelievably harmful. I'm saying don't UNDERESTIMATE the danger and fight it, I'm not being a doomer, quite the opposite
I'm not *happy* about it, I'm one of those people. Unless we shut down all the camps, unless Dem leadership gets on board w/ and demands return of all that funding, YES, even with all that. Is there organized Democratic opposition to election stealing? effective action, not just meaningless words?
on the street, and in war zones.... yes, exactly my fear as well.
as in Putinβs Russia, the goal is not to convince people that a lie is the truth; itβs to make it impossible to tell them apart
Every stage of this process - his arrest, spending a year in jail, being dumped on the streets to die - would be deeply shameful in a society that actually valued human life.
Mass horror at the killings of Renee Good & Alex Pretti has DHSβs budget at stake.
And yet in the past week, agents left a blind refugee to die alone.
And lied about it.
They pretended to be police looking for a missing child, to detain a college kid.
And lied about it.
What does this tell you?
i like a lot of your takes but you're being way too optimistic here. the "it can't happen here" shtick is not helpful, imho? that's what people said about ICE and you see where we are... just my two cents.
