I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.

Trying to run the indie circuit kinda just means you’re losing your mind as you watch your savings steadily dry up. The only solace I have is I get to have the monkey juice drip when anyone looks at my incremental progress and goes “Hey! Nice job man !” (Me, I’m the monkey)
Flying back to California for the post holidays. My favorite hobby is to drive down to burbank and stare at empty and bankrupt studios.
The joy with bluesky is that I forget that it exists a lot, meaning I have a backlog of work to throw over here- and also understanding that the format caters a lot less to the performance that feels necessary out of instagram or tik tok. So I can be riffing like they finally put me in a padded cell
Since leaving college I have not felt more consistently stupid about many things all at once, all the while feeling the pressure of a thousand suns bop my head like a weasel. Not really sustainable, but, we hack away regardless
