So, New Yorkers! I'm back! I can't wait to reconnect with you. Let's get coffee.

At Documented, I will be writing about the impact of immigration enforcement on communities in NYC, working with and for immigrant New Yorkers. Iโm thrilled to know I'll be working for a newsroom that really walks the walk. I truly cannot wait, and there's nowhere else I'd rather cover these issues.
While I'm sad to leave the Bayou City, I'm ecstatic to be joining a newsroom I've long admired and aspired to be a part of โ one whose work we tried to emulate in Houston.
Thank you to @mizanur1.bsky.social , @johntedesco.bsky.social and others for bringing me on board your vision for a new kind of journalism in Houston, and for your mentorship and guidance.
Houston, you inspired me with your food, your fight, your swagger, your resilience. You gave me incredible friends and colleagues.
Houstonians: thank you for trusting me with your stories.
It's true โ my time in Houston is coming to an end. Life is taking me back to New York to work for
@documentedny.bsky.social . There are so many exciting things to say about this, but first, my departure is also bittersweet.

More than 40 people (and their families) will lose their income, and many of them recently moved to Houston to do this work. Grateful to the Chronicle's Mike Morris for setting up a GoFundMe. Please consider donating to our staff: www.gofundme.com/f/support-ho...
This week we were told the @houstonlanding.bsky.social would be shutting down. I've found it hard to put words together to talk about the devastating impact this will have on local journalism and my coworkers. All I can say is I'm endlessly grateful for those who trusted me with their stories.
