When you write a post on LinkedIn, AI now sits there asking if you want it rewritten.
LinkedIn was already full of AI-generated posts...
We've got students at school using LLMs for essays and official IB coursework. But they now live in a world in which LLMs are thrust upon you.
Fantastic read for a Saturday morning:

I didn't leave X to fall into Meta's threads. A lot of teaxhers are on LinkedIn but the site is awful for attempting to read anything. The site is also full of crap posts.
Few teachers here, but often the discussion is good. And many scientists here.
Love this! That little Paramecium is clearly *trying* to escape! #agency

7 minutes out of every 30 minutes of classroom time are now estimated to be lost to disruption.
Why doesn’t tightening behaviour policies solve it? 🧐
What is this, a conference? An online chat? It doesn't say.
Seeing it more and more, yes. Especially in blog posts.

Why are so many British teachers saying "instruction" nowadays instead of "teaching"?
When people distinguish between "learning and performance", they're really referring to immediate and delayed performance.
There's no getting around it, learning is only ever a judgment of performance,
Instruction is just a term Americans use to mean teacher-led teaching.
The "magic bullet" sales technique is timeless.
Engineering and education are two words that shouldn't go together.

Only listened to half this podcast with @jimmycoan.bsky.social but already fascinated!
"Jim is a leading researcher on how social connection impacts our minds, brains, and bodies, and he’s also pushing the boundaries of impactful science communication."

It’s clear to me that the argument is actually about what you think the point of doing research is. If it’s papers, AI will be faster. But I don’t think it’s papers I think it’s the process and I want to do that process
Thanks Natalie, very interesting. Could I ask another question.
What are the pros of using substack for your posts when yu have your own web? I now have my own web too, that's why I ask.
A new reading comprehension meta-analysis seems to cast doubt on the effectiveness of building knowledge.
But it omits at least 2 important studies and uses an unrealistic framework for evaluating results.

Many things in here ring true for teaching with slide decks.
Thanks!
I’m inspired most days by @cmooreanderson.bsky.social’s work. I have a couple of his books. Christian is helping evolve the way education works. For the better.
So much enactivism in these quotes
Love this ↓
