Delighted this open access article with Laura Cordes Felby is now out.
Charles Clarke and Paul Ashwin stitting at a table, talking towards a room of people.
Fascinating insights on connecting policy and research with @paulashwin.bsky.social and Charles Clarke as part of our @edreslancaster.bsky.social summer school.
Researchers must be clear and concise, representing their bodies of knowledge, providing concrete steps that policy makers can take.
Jayne Osgood talking to a room of people in rows.
Hugely insightful walk behind the curtain of the review and journal editing process from @profjayneosgood.bsky.social as part of our @edreslancaster.bsky.social Summer School. Particularly taken with the explicit approach of a feminist ethic of care in writing reviews - no room for Reviewer 2!!!

It always amazes me that a pay cut for senior managers would 'make no difference', whereas redundancies, department and course closures are necessary to 'secure the future of the university', give students the 'best experience' and 'serve our communities'.

This will be hugely insightful and interesting, as well as no doubt troubling and uplifting.

Was pleased to be part of (and learned a huge amount from!) the working group that informed this excellent British Academy report on UK skills policy

I'm helping organize this conference. What would you like to see at this conference?

The picture for gender equality in the UK music industry is GRIM.
If you look at the pipeline of gender equality in music higher education, we are moving away from gender equality rather than closer to it.
I've written about this in a new academic article.
For those unable to make it, this session is being recorded and will be available to our PGRs. π
This looks amazing!!!

Delving into the class, ethnicity & gender higher education participation rates summarised in thread
Gender gaps exist for all ethnic groups. Whether White British, Pakistani or Black African, girls are more likely to attend higher education than boys
The class gap is striking, not just by gender
Great seminar by @iancushing.bsky.social at @education.ox.ac.uk this evening - on linguistic injustice
Lovely to meet last yearβs @bjse.bsky.social ECR prize winner in person!
Fantastic roundtable discussion on Why UK HE is in crisis and how/if we can 'fix' it - this thread provides a snapshot of the discussions.
For those that missed - or enjoyed and wish to relive - it, the recording will be available on the @edreslancaster.bsky.social website soon.
Today!
Really looking forward to this @centreforhere.bsky.social event at @edreslancaster.bsky.social still time to register if you want to come. Guaranteed to be interesting!
NEW on Wonkhe: The headlines are well known, but the full HESA release adds a lot of detail to a generally bleak picture. David Kernohan has the charts buff.ly/x3m7xS5

The UK govt is about to do two things which will likely make the university crisis much worse, markedly tightening the tailspin. One: cut international student numbers further. Two: link fees to inflation. (1/3)
Could you mentor a neurodivergent, early career humanities academic? I did this last time: it's not a big time commitment and is massively rewarding. You don't necessarily have to be neurodivergent/in humanities yourself. @ndhumanities.bsky.social
Really good thread - and links - to special issue blog pieces on the challenges and potential solutions related to a combined approach to tertiary education in England.
Contributions from policy makers and academics, so covers really important practical, social justice, and conceptual angles.
A timely reminder of our @centreforhere.bsky.social public online roundtable on Monday next week:
Why is UK HE in crisis, and (how) can we fix it?
Discussants are @gunjans.bsky.social , @ronaldhartz.bsky.social, Kalpana Shankar, and Susan Robertson.

In the run-up to the Uk-EU summit on 19 May, @johannawaters.bsky.social has written a great piece about the value of even a time-limited youth mobility scheme. Thereβs also brief mention of our forthcoming book!
