I’ve been working on this large painting of Port Sunlight cottages on and off for the past few weeks. I think it has now finally reached a finish. #liverpool #art

πŸ’šI cried too. Felt really silly doing it so I’m glad I’m not alone!!
It was a brilliant, heartfelt speech that articulated reality.

That’s completely fair! I can’t believe I’ve stayed awake but I live in Liverpool, so it’s all a bit closer to home for me.
A wonderful life affirming result. πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š

πŸ’šThere’s no way I can sleep through this….

Indeed. And glossing over Reform’s loss. Again.

Let’s leave it there then. We live in very traumatic times, and I have no wish to add to them.

I appreciate that they have done some good things. However given the transformative opportunities offered by the majority, I am not impressed. I am also DSD intersex. The casually cruel treatment of the tiny minority of intersex + trans people by this govt is something I will never forgive.

I confess I’ve never been drawn to supporting any team, that’s on me - a blind spot I have. But we’re not talking about supporting a football team. We are talking about the moral, courageous and sound leadership of our country. I lent Labour my vote to get a progressive government.

I agree the British media are astoundingly biased against all progressive parties, and Labour was never given a chance. However, and this is only my opinion, I’m afraid they are gaff prone. For context I voted Labour. I deeply regret it, but that doesn’t make me blind to the bias they face.

Thank you, that’s good to understand.
Rules is rules I suppose, though forgive me when I think that they are often selectively applied.

My apologies. I certainly didn’t mean to offend you.

From an outsider’s perspective that seems quite an extreme position, but you know your own business.

Indeed. Would that be the same Labour conference that voted for PR?

Well as a Londoner for many years, I do feel there are subtle geographical differences between standing in a different borough, and standing in a different city, in a wholly different part of the country.

My understanding is that Andy was standing precisely to challenge for the leadership. But hey we’ll never know what might have been.
I agree it would be good for Zack Polanski to be in parliament, but wouldn’t it make more sense for him to stand in London where he lives?

26.02.2026 17:17 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Yes. But unless you don’t think politicians elected under PR are legitimate, I don’t know what point you are making?

26.02.2026 17:04 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I’m sorry, but I’m not convinced that statement stands up to scrutiny.

26.02.2026 17:01 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Would that logic, respecting his (in this case London) electors, not stand for Zack Polanski too?

26.02.2026 16:56 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 4 πŸ“Œ 0

That’s very true - and I’m sure Andy Burnham would have been excellent. It was after all only Kier Starmer who prevented him standing.
However my point was because people were saying Zack is unelected - which is untrue.

Zack Polanski is an elected member of the London Assembly.

I’ve been doing some more work on this weekend’s map painting of the area around Castle Street - adding and removing detail and intensifying some of the colours. #liverpool #art
