Congrats Andy.
What do you think @andy.compoundchem.com
I think it’s just a convention, the maths works either way round. Interested in what others think. BTW the thing the students always struggle with is endo or exo Enthalpy of solution
We’ll be trying this out at BHASVIC. Looks interesting.
Uni of York MOOC Exploring everyday chemistry is good. RSC screen expts. Cambridge Chem challenge. Maybe join with another school to do the schools analyst competition.
Looks great. Will be really useful for our planning.
I agree with Helen’s advice. You’re not expected to know the answer or even get the question right but you need to be able to describe your thought process. We practice by describing an unfamiliar mechanism out loud.
Fab! Thanks
I’m interested. Always looking for interesting facts to pop into my A level lessons.
The oxalic acid is oxidised to carbon dioxide and water. It’s autocalytic though so after a while you get interesting data! #chatchemistry
We’re thinking broadly at the moment Amy so at the gathering information stage. Prob the qualification that would work best alongside Sports science.
Do we get access to a recording of we sign up? I teach 3:50-5:20 on a Tuesday! @amybrewer.bsky.social
He’s one of my dept 😀
Thanks for hosting @janeteachesscience.bsky.social

Scisheets and a good quality textbook. Good YouTube channels for A level: MAChemGuy, Brady Explains.
I like the focus on what the bond is. Students arriving with us from GCSE are sometimes obsessed with how it’s formed. #chatchemistry
And for A level. Loads of dot and cross diagrams and for shapes make models. There are great shapes Molymods kits which have lone pairs in… #chatchemistry
Go back to the periodic table for every example. Where is it on the table so what does that tell us. Then go from there #chatchemistry
The ideal gas equation. Relationship between temp, pressure, vol and moles of a gas.
scisheets.co.uk has some good worksheets and workbooks of practice #ChemChat
I like that idea #ChatChemistry
It’s good because it’s something the students can visualise!
This looks really interesting @stareatair.bsky.social I’ll check this out over half term #ChatChemistry
Found the Bryson quote! ‘the number of soft drink cans that would evenly stacked cover the earth to a depth of two hundred miles’ #ChatChemistry
Interesting. I’ll take a look at that. #ChatChemistry
Sorry replied to myself: mostly our course textbook #ChatChemistry
It’s not very creative - our textbook explains it well. I also like the analogies in Bill Brysons History of almost Everything #ChatChemistry
