Years spent with the Scoia'tael have made Caerdin sarcastic and short-tempered, but he knows when to keep these traits in check, which helps him avoid trouble. That's why he keeps his distance from strangers, and, avoiding small talk, always gets straight to the point.
After The Second Northern War, Caerdin lost faith in the Scoia'tael and abandoned the rebels. He joined a group of refugees and became a healer in their new settlement.
But he consoled himself with the thought that he was doing this for the common good, fighting the root cause of their problems.
He was a little sorry to leave his patients, because during his work they had become more than just clients for him – they were friends with whom he could talk and get mutual support.
After listening to his patients' stories of racial racism, and then facing harassment on his own, Caerdin decided to join the Scoia'tael.
