🎉 Great news: the UK’s emissions fell to their lowest level in 150 years last year, with coal use roughly halving.
𖣘 We also saw record-breaking generation from renewable sources, especially wind & solar.

1️⃣ The #climate & #nature crisis isn’t a future issue. It threatens all aspects of British life now and demands urgent action.
Ten top experts briefed MPs and other influential people at the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster.

What would a truly resilient Europe look like by 2030?
The EU’s 2026 Climate Resilience Package must put nature-based solutions at its core. 90% of extreme weather is water-related.
Restore nature, uphold EU law, phase out harmful subsidies.
Resilience starts with living systems.

Climate denial is fueled by inequality & wealthy who often lack empathy and regard for other people, society or democracy.
Their tactic: "downplaying impacts, dismissing real solutions (i.e., clean energy), and ... acting as enablers of the fossil fuel status quo.” -@michaelemann.bsky.social
This is what the National Emergency Briefing gilm coming out in April will help with www.nebriefing.org
"climate change beyond 1.5°C doesn’t mean a few percentage points being shaved off GDP but a serious threat to the stability of European food, water, and energy systems... a frightening picture of Europe’s future begins to resolve."

Can’t wait for this film to come to Bradford. Plans developing for screenings in Skipton, Ilkley, Keighley and Shipley.
Can you help organise more screenings?
“The climate scientists we surveyed were unambiguous: current economic models can’t capture what matters most – the cascading failures and compounding shocks that define climate risk in a warmer world – and could undermine the very foundations of economic growth.”
Should be the top story everyday.

7/ This isn’t just another meeting.
It’s the start of a coalition of the willing — countries ready to move beyond empty promises and take real action toward a just transition. ⚖️🌱
6/ So Colombia and the Netherlands drew a line in the sand. ✋
And announced:
🗓️ In April 2026, governments will gather in Santa Marta, Colombia for the First Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels.
2/ Why this is massive:
Corporate courts (ISDS) allow corporations to sue governments in secret tribunals over policies they allege harm their profits. Gov’ts will hear about how the big polluters are using corporate courts to deter fossil fuel phase-out or penalise it via costly claims.
🧵1/ MAJOR CAMPAIGN WIN 🚨🌍
At COP30, the governments of Colombia and the Netherlands announced the *first ever* conference on transitioning away from fossil fuels. AND they confirmed corporate courts will be discussed.
This is historic. And it takes us one BIG step closer to a #FossilFuelTreaty. 🔥✊
3/ What actually shifts behaviour is seeing others act, warts and all.
Not just the victories,
but the how: barriers, alliances, setbacks, resilience.
That’s what teaches people what to do next and how to keep going.

2/ We are saturated with crisis narratives.
And yes, the risks are real.
But if every story ends in failure, the implicit lesson is:
“This is too big.”
“You can’t change it.”
That’s not mobilisation. That’s paralysis.
Its a cycle. Actions-> Results-> Beliefs -> Actions
We need more stories that help people learn from what’s working.
Not just what’s going wrong.
Not just what “has to happen by 2050.”
Real examples of action that others can see, understand & build on.
Here's a 🧵on advice & tips for sharing #climate stories that actually inspire action.
This is the UK security assessment that the government tried to bury: ecosystem collapse is a national security threat.

“Planting suitable wetland species alongside rivers and roof tops helps delay surface water runoff by up to 90%…In the Netherlands, there are hundreds of green roofs on bus stops…Each square metre green of roof cover absorbs 20 litres of water, reducing how much water enters the drains.”
“Continued global heating could trigger climate tipping points, leading to a cascade of further tipping points and feedback loops. This would lock the world into a new and hellish “hothouse Earth” climate far worse than the 2-3C temperature rise the world is on track to reach. #ClimateCrisis
