If you don’t live in Minnesota, especially the Twin Cities (or Chicago, or Portland, or L.A.), you have no idea. You might see it on television or on your social media, but unless you are in it, unless you spend every day being hyper-vigilant while trying to go about your normal day-to-day life…
I think the problem is that while I still firmly believe in the Pony Express story, it may not be the right thing to write right now (say that three times fast!).
I’ve been stalled on the Pony Express story. I’ve been basically stalled on everything. The only writing I’ve successfully completed was a doggerel ditty about being three raccoons in a suit.
Today, a white cargo/utility van with no markings and out-of-state plates parked in front of our house. Might have been nothing, but my wife stood on the porch and stared at it until the driver decided to move along. It might have been nothing. Maybe.

Lucky, our newest member of Standish House. Border collie. About six years old. He was abandoned by his previous owners in rural Minnesota. The Heart of a Border Collie rescue took him in, and we adopted him yesterday. He is friendly, whip smart, and already integrating into the household
