i joke, but in all serious no amount of "don't they know that (insert media here) actually is against...." addresses the real problem, which is that the us government loves performative cruelty and treating an already catastrophic war as a game only furthers that goal

closest western equivalent i can think of is something like far cry 2

this is partly why i like Stalker so much, it helps that its not a truly "seamless" open-world so each area from garbage to yantar all has a specific vibe and iconography. the game has a strong fidelity to the actual locations without bending over backwards for strictly "pure" realism

or stoner movies for that matter (which it also qualifies as) - i like watching movies stoned, it can make for some truly fun experiences but i think the only movie that's a good stoner comedy is inherent vice, and even then that's cheating because its a thomas pynchon adaptation

higurashi itself is kind of ar iff on clannad, except instead of "goofy comedy juxtaposed with tragedy," its "goofy comedy juxtaposed with horror (and also tragedy)" - but its not even really a parody, ryukishi has so mcuh love for anime and manga to the point where literally ciel shows up

its kind of like how alan moore had years of working as a serious comic book writer before making watchmen, he could only really subvert those conventions via having actual experience in that field
