An honor to be in conversation with Lisa Genova, author of STILL ALICE, about her latest novel MORE OR LESS MADDIE. As usual Lisa’s writing is fearless and full if grace as she helps readers identify with what it feels like to experience Bipolar Disorder. It’s a wonderful story!

Pray for L.A. 🙏🏻❤️
“The world is violent and mercurial--it will have its way with you. We are saved only by love, for each other and love we pour into art we feel compelled to share… We live in a perpetually burning building, and what we must save from it, all the time, is LOVE.” -Tennessee Williams

Fellow writers- I’m headed off for a residency in a few weeks and am looking for ideas of inspiring texts to bring to help coax my next project into the light. What books have made you see the world or the craft of writing in a new way?

I guess I was determined to do the hard work to make it good enough--although the standards of what is and isn't "good enough" are so subjective that creating a great book doesn't guarantee publication. I just didn't know that then. Bottom line: keep doing the work you love!

I have the same (wonderful) problem. I started with one shelf and now have far outstripped that space. I'm still a little stuck on whether or not to mix and match (with other beloved books written by authors I don't know). Not sure why it trips me up! They'd all be friends if they could, right?
