Imagine putting out transphobic agitprop and you only get made to take it down because of a complaint from Ian fucking Huntley

Imagine putting out transphobic agitprop and you only get made to take it down because of a complaint from Ian fucking Huntley
Promise Mascot Agency is ridiculously funny and I damn near pissed myself when I heard Takaya Kuroda's voice
When Taylor contacted Monzo with her concerns, it told her that it βdidnβt find evidence to support your complaintβ. The letter from its complaint specialist went on to say: βI recognise that in your case, the automated and standardised language we used was inappropriate and caused genuine upset.β It said that to put things right, it would pay her Β£20 as a gesture of goodwill.
This is also a pathetic response to a complaint. You have to take your customers as you find them; if you want to do things that they could reasonably find offensive, you should be prepared to apologise if people are offended.
"Did somebody say just stop?" is the exact point I would probably be looking into a new bank, and possibly also a tactical nuclear strike. Chummy marketing copy can, in general, go eat its own arsehole, but at least most of it isn't a direct insult.
It then said she was βin the top 15%β for Just Eat, adding: βYou like your banquets beige and boxed up.β This appears to be a reference to a βbeigeβ diet dominated by bland or processed foods such as chicken nuggets, chips and pasta. It later returned to this theme, telling her: βYou spent more than most on Just Eat. Did somebody say just stop?β
People are whinging about this person's complaint being "snowflakey" or whatever, but if any organisation I was a customer of spoke to me like this, I think a polite complaint would a generous response on my part. (ht @stephenkb.bsky.social) [β¦]

(I am talking here as someone who left Three mobile because they actively namesearched themselves on Twitter, found me complaining about some of their stupid emoji-laden marketing, and implied I should leave them. So I did. Zero tolerance for twee chummy copy.)
The day Lloyds puts fucking emoji in its terms and conditions is the day I switch banks to, honestly literally anyone else. I'd personally resurrect BCCI and switch to that before I get talked to by my bank like I'm swiping through TikTok.
Broke: Monzo shouldn't be shaming its customers
Woke: Monzo's customers should get a grip and stop complaining
Bespoke: how dare my bank talk to me in this informal tone. You are providing me a service and I am your client - act like it.
Unironically the "Bespoke" take is something I believe with righteous fury, Monzo consistently talking to its customers like stupid children is why I don't have any serious financial products with them.
Ah well, itβs not all bad https://news.sky.com/story/soham-murderer-ian-huntley-dies-after-prison-attack-13512943
@rachelcoldicutt.bsky.social Just in general, the government outsourcing decision making and research to inscrutable βblack boxβsystems operated by private companies is just an obviously bad idea in numerous ways
Anyway I went to a funeral yesterday and that was the high point of the week
Heard you lads love alt text, here thereβs not even an image, *only* alt text. I am the ultimate Mastodon poster
This Mastodon app doesnβt have Giphy so please imagine I posted a gif of Pingu exploding into a nuclear fireball with the caption βmoodβ
@valoisdubins.bsky.social Itβs like, at the point someone considers it to be woke purity politics to object to someone having tattoos of Nazi insignia, when is it ever going to be worth listening to them?
@laurenshof People complain about "clout chasing" but there's no more reliable way to get boosts and favs than to just post some oh-so-brave statement about how you think AI is ruining the world. Like what is that if not chasing clout, they're not articulating anything new or helping anyone [β¦]
RE: https://mastodon.social/@verge/116184357708795476
Yeah I mean I wouldn't be looking to launch a loss-leader thing that depends on large amounts of memory either this year either
@laurenshof In general it's yet another symptom of social media discourse becoming largely based on simple Manichean "Thing is bad, I don't like thing, therefore I am good"/"Thing is good, I like thing, therefore I am good" grandstanding, that isn't unique to Mastodon but honestly I find infests [β¦]
I think we need to strongly consider the possibility that Bluesky accounts are neurotoxic in large doses
Really says a lot that the current admin donβt even think that anyone is worth lying to, theyβre more than happy to just be like βwe can do this and we want to so we did it and you can just deal with it.β What a great time to be alive
The current Iran excitement is making me long for the halcyon days where the US government felt it worthwhile to bother telling easily-disprovable lies to justify doing whatever it felt like, as if at least a *pretence* at an intellectual justification was necessary
The median British person also does not approve, with hindsight or otherwise, of the Iraq war, so βhow about another Iraq War but even more brazenly illegal and un-planned for and also led by someone you despise even more than George W Bushβ isβ¦ a sales pitch.
One symptom of both Kemi and Farage being a bit too online is that they seem to not realise that most British people really, really, really do not like or appreciate the politics of Donald Trump, even if they are quite right wing.
Decided that the way the placebo effect works is that if I tell myself that crisps are an SSRI then they actually are
Rental e-scooter riders are just temporarily embarrassed Audi drivers
I think it would be good if every rental e-scooter exploded
I think it's really good that the US and Israel seem to have started a world war for no valid reason whatsoever.

Anyone who gives themselves a financial vested interest in nuclear war happening is a ghoul who is beyond redemption

As much as I have mixed feelings about this stuff, at some point the usual FOSS assumption that it can just be ignored or got around is going to collide with reality in a really unpleasant way
Honestly, who cares what Elon Muskβs theory of anything is? Heβs a) an idiot, b) morally repugnant, c) high, and d) dishonest. Whatever his theory is it will be stupid, detached from reality, mostly about grifting, & probably racist/misogynistic. Itβll also be different in a monthβs time.
